From my reading of it and the time line he did that when Josh was 14/15 years old so a bit late for him to have any effect on what josh would be like growing up, he's done more with his Photography and Acting than he has with any Special Education he partook in, I know he's taken Josh to see a psychiatrist for various issues because he's claims as much josh has mentioned it and medication he's been prescribed.

Josh is in that weird place on the spectrum where he's functioning enough to know he's disabled but not able enough to realise what he's doing wrong and have a coping strategy to at least lessen his own problems, Clint's aware of that and has offered on phone to send him back to counselling etc, If anything I think that might be Clints hope that Josh crashes so hard he realises that he needs help and asks for it as forcing it on him wont work.
