Big part of it is the ego he has developed over the years, as you mentioned, from his persona. He gets both good and bad attention, and the majority of his actual fans are probably just trying to encourage him to make him feel better. He can be a stubborn to, despite being self aware, that is thrown out the window if someone else comments on his flaws. He will think the opposite is true because they're just haters. Reverse psychology or whatnot.

I didn’t know seizure ever interviewed Josh, let alone so long ago. Seems fitting they do another one soon since it’s almost been 10 years. Gotta get Josh in the exact same outfit though so we can put the two videos next to each other and really appreciate what the last ten years has done to him.

The person who did the fundraiser's identity is very public, so it would make sense that he'd send a laptop filled with incriminating material to Josh's house with his return address on it.
