Khanacademy is a great website that I used to learn calculus over the summer and thus do extremely well in my current (soon to be finished) calculus course
do other kiwis use khanacademy?
 
It's an okay resource, but that's what it is: a resource. It's no substitute to the practice work you'd have to do anyway in a math class.
 
I used it to supplement a few of my classes and the ability to go back and replay parts you didn't 100% understand as many times as you need is what I loved.
 
I used it a little to help me study for my statistics class last fall, but that class was pretty easy, so I didn't need to use it that much. If I decide to attend college for social psychology like I want, it might be a good idea for me to use it to review a little because I forget most of what I learned in that course.
 
Never really used Khan Academy, however YouTube can be an excellent resource for people to access discussions given by some of the world's leading minds. Search the name of people who are living who are leaders in your field and you will probably find a discussion or conference of theirs.

Have you tried to use it?
Let's say I want to follow some course I'd actually be interested to take. Like this :

Sure I can download the powerpoints and learn a little from them, but with only some keywords and no explanation, I'd learn a lot more by reading research papers ,wikipedia, and general googling. So really, what's the point?
 
I've been using Khan Academy to re-teach myself math. I've been meaning to use it a lot more because they have a lot of material and different subjects to study. So I'm hoping to get a hold of that.
 
I tried it once. I already understood a lot of the stuff it wanted me to do and the stuff I didn't understand it didn't really help me with.
 
I never had trouble with math in highschool except once when I had a teacher who quickly, quickly glossed over fairly complex math related thingies, I transferred into another class and had no problems from that point on.
The only issue is, I've forgotten how to do a lot of higher level math but I don't really use it much in my day to day life. Eventually if I end up going to school for some kind of science shit or doing some kind of science shit I might need it depending on what kind of science shit I do
 
I used them once, just to learn some about congenital heart diseases, when I needed a video that could be sped up 2x on Youtube.

Ok more on topic, they have some interesting art history videos that we've watched in a few classes of mine. It was nice getting a more in-depth look into certain works.
 
I watched a couple before. They were alright. I've never used it much after that.
