Are "phone breaks" even a thing in an acute psych ward? If she "doesn't know" why she's there then that implies she was committed involuntarily and, presumably, considered a danger to herself/others. Wouldn't they have locked all her shit away and stuck her in a hospital gown?

Not typically. Day or outpatient programs, yeah, it's a thing. Locked door type psych wards? No.

I'm assuming one of two things happened:
1. Kelly told her psychiatrist something that made them have her involuntarily committed (she's cutting/burning again? she has a suicide plan? her doc finally figured out why her legs never got better?)
2. Kelly had some sort of public or dangerous breakdown that resulted in emergency services and cops being called, who then involuntarily committed her.

That's a pretty shitty looking cell she's in. I don't know enough about Canadian psychiatric hospitals to know if there's some sort of triage where she can use her phone (she hasn't posted since though).
Or, of course, Kelly could be full of shit and she's doing this on purpose for attention. Not even Gina knows where she is or what happened - Kelly just went straight to Instagram with her histrionics.
I would feel bad for her if she weren't such an asshole.

I know enough to know that when I saw that picture, I had questions too. Those totally naked rooms with steel toilets are for emergency psychiatric issues. They don't keep people in rooms like that normally. Like, the kind of psychiatric emergency where they wouldn't let you have your phone or anything else for that matter. It's a safety room if it's the kind of room it looks like. Which makes me think she's got herself in some other kind of room and taken the pic from an angle to make it look worse than it is.

Canadian here and I have familiarity with the health care system (though I'm in a different province and shit could always differ a little between areas)
This looks like an emergency psych hold cell to me. They're pretty good with letting you keep your shit in here, they don't automatically take your phone away unless they have a specific reason to (like you're repeatedly calling the cops or causing some sort of real havoc with it). If you're a self harm or suicide risk specifically they will take away stuff like sharps and cords (so maybe she has her phone but not the charging cable, would make sense that they'd allow her a brief "phone break" to plug it in with supervision long enough to send a few texts). They don't take away your clothes or anything like that unless you actually try to strangle yourself with them, or say you will (most suicidal people thrown into psych hold want to keep at least a minimal amount of dignity so very few do this). Whether they let you keep your personal items and such depends entirely on why you're there and what they think your level of risk is (if you're throwing things at staff or prone to swallowing inanimate objects, for example, they're not going to give you ammunition).
If I had to hazard a guess what happened, Kelly threw a tantrum and started trying to manipulate her doctors with suicide threats when they decided to scale back her opiates. Her doctors, not being fucking retards, called her on her shit and said "well if you're really suicidal then you're going to psych emerg". The cops may or may not have been involved depending on how much of a stink she made about it (if the doc decides you're going and you try to leave, they will send the cops to your home to drag you there). Kelly, deciding to make munchie drama whore lemonade out of shitty opiate-withdrawal lemons, naturally makes as big of a deal about it as possible and soaks in the attention.

Apparently there was a livestream explaining why she was supposedly admitted but I haven’t had time to watch it yet and I don’t know if it’s worth going out of my way to listen to her ramble.
She mentioned Ketamine in a recent post and presumably is blaming her admission on someone or other’s negligence in providing her that drug (which is a sedative, you can look it up.) Not sure how that pertains to her being a wacko, but oh well...

I've never seen ketamine used in emergency medicine myself. However I have heard it is gaining popularity among anesthesiologists, and BC in particular is pretty liberal about drugs, so it's not impossible that it might be used.
The whole situation reeks of bullshit because of the source (being sexually assaulted badly enough to need emergency surgery the instant you can't milk your last crisis for attention and drugs anymore? What a coincidence!) but mutilating herself to the point of needing serious medical intervention is kind of her whole schtick, so I think it's very possible that the crazy bitch actually went so far as to hack up her vagina. Self inflicted traumatic injuries, even very severe ones, can usually be identified as such - Coming into the ER with a strange and possibly self inflicted wound and a bizarre, improbable story to match is pretty likely to warrant transfer to psych observation once you're done needing full nursing care. Either way I can't wait to hear how over-the-top ridiculous her story is once she's done concocting it.
