FRISCO, Texas — Karmelo Anthony, the teen accused of fatally stabbing another teen, Austin Metcalf, at a Frisco track meet, has been indicted on a murder charge, officials said.

A grand jury indicted Anthony on Tuesday, according to the Collin County District Attorney's Office. A murder charge is punishable by 5-99 years or life in prison.

Anthony, a 17-year-old former student of Frisco Centennial High School, was arrested and charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of Frisco Memorial High School student athlete Austin Metcalf in April at a track meet in Frisco ISD's Kuykendall Stadium. He was released from jail later that month after his bond was reduced from $1 million to $250,000.

Anthony has claimed self defense in the case, which garnered national attention, heightening racial tensions and raising security concerns among everyone connected to the case, including both families and Judge Angela Tucker, who is presiding over the case.

"We know this case has struck a deep nerve — here in Collin County and beyond," Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said in a statement Tuesday. "That’s understandable. When something like this happens at a school event, it shakes people to the core. But the justice system works best when it moves with steadiness and with principle. That’s what we’re committed to. And that’s exactly what this case deserves."

Anthony's attorney, Mike Howard, called Tuesday's indictment "an expected and routine step in the legal process."

"Karmelo and his family are confident in the justice system and the people of Collin County to be fair and impartial," Howard said. "Of course, Karmelo looks forward to his day in court. It's only in a trial that a jury will hear the full story, one that includes critical facts and context that the grand jury simply didn't get to hear."

Howard again raised Anthony's self defense claim in his statement Tuesday.

"We expect that when the full story is heard, the prosecution will not be able to rule out the reasonable doubt that Karmelo Anthony may have acted in self defense," Howard said. "Self defense is a fundamental right guaranteed every American."

Metcalf's father, Jeff Metcalf, told WFAA in a statement that he's "pleased that we are moving forward."

“With the first degree murder indictment, it now goes into the court system," Jeff Metcalf said. "I fully believe that justice will be served for Austin Metcalf. I look forward to the forthcoming trial. But it will never bring my son back.“

Under his bond conditions, Anthony is required to wear an ankle monitor and ask permission to leave his home. If Anthony violates any conditions of his bond, he will have to return to jail. He graduated and received his high school diploma in May, but did not attend the ceremony, WFAA previously reported.

Anthony allegedly confessed to the stabbing immediately after he was arrested, claiming he was defending himself from Metcalf, officials said, as WFAA previously reported.

A witness reportedly told police that Metcalf told Anthony he had to move out from under the Memorial High School tent. Anthony responded by opening his bag and reaching inside, WFAA previously reported.

"Touch me and see what happens," Anthony told Metcalf, according to a witness.

Metcalf reportedly then touched Anthony, the witness told a responding officer, and Anthony told Metcalf to punch him and see what would happen. Soon afterward, the witness said, Metcalf reportedly grabbed Anthony to tell him to move. At which point, the affidavit continues, Anthony reportedly pulled out what the witness recalled as a black knife and stabbed Metcalf once in the chest before running away.

The deep tension sparked by the incident has raised concerns that the case may be tried outside of Collin County. Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis told WFAA that the judge will make that decision at the time of trial.

It should also be noted that Texas is one of the few states that actually forces inmates to work. There’s units that inmates are literally picking cotton while prison guards supervise them on horseback with rifles.
Beautiful. Might as well put buck breaking in the books to make it official at that point.

This may have been asked already. But if he gets in trouble on the inside can his parole get delayed or he gets a hearing regardless of conduct so long as he's not found guilty of crimes committed in there?
I'm not an expert, but someone said earlier in the thread yes, his parole can get delayed because of his conduct. Even if he has good conduct that's not a guarantee he will get parole either. Hunter and his parents will have the opportunity to speak to the parole board on their opinion if he should be released or not, and the board will take that into account also. It's not like if he checks certain boxes he's automatically released back into society.

If this was in the UK he would've gotten 6 months probation or something
Also insanely hilarious that his family raised over half a million dollars just to barely spend it on their son, who might potentially rot in prison until his 50's. If that's not fraud I don't know what is.
The family using the ghetto lottery money on an Escalade and pineapple koolaid instead of an expensive lawyer is a totally rational use of the windfall tbh.

He was obviously dead to rights, there was no chance of getting away with it without having a bunch of black jurors nullifying the jury, and all of the candidates (being low IQ niggers) outed themselves as being set on exactly that during selection.

instead of an expensive lawyer
That's actually not true, they initially told the judge to assign them a PD (personal defender - free lawyer) but the judge denied them citing the money they raised. The defense attorney they actually got was supposedly for 200k. I don't know how people found that number or if that number is what the judge told them to spend on their defense, but he was a good quality lawyer. He just looks like a bad lawyer because they really had no case to begin with so there wasn't much he could do.

The whole situation is just sad. People are so brain-poisoned into this team sport mentality that they can rabidly defend somebody who encroached on somebody's personal space and then started stabbing when their victim didn't acquiesce to their demands.

Then you see the opposite side of the coin with people tripping over themselves to defend Chud The Builder who freely admitted multiple times he was deliberately trying to orchestrate a situation where he got to shoot somebody because he's le heckin' based racist man.

There are too many retards seal clapping eachother into making absolutely appalling decisions.

he did have an expensive lawyer. it's a false narrative that he had some shitty public defender.

I've not been this surprised/pleased since Rittensneed was found not guilty.

Even if he only serves the minimum, 17 years is a long time. Think how much the world has changed since 2016, fuck knows how bad it'll be in 2043 when this scumbag tastes free air again. It'd probably be better for him to die in prison.

I believe my prediction was 30 years due to his age, although I prefer the capital like anyone else.
Not a bad outcome. I'm not a fan of how he still gets parole, though. He will be in his mid-thirties if he gets out by that time, and I bet unreformed.
Someone who would bait a punch from another guy over a scuffle regarding seats just to stab them cannot be reformed.

It would've been nice if the past 100 pages had archives of the Metcalf family press conference and less "TND" every damn page. I get it you hate joggers, but this was supposed to cover the case and it's proceedings and instead it's just wading through sperg outs with minimal info sprinkled in. It's a shit sundae.

17.5 years in prison Minimum is no joke. You might argue "he will be 36 when he's out" but at the same time he has to relearn his entire life if that is even possible. And if he screws up in Prison he will stay longer. And he won't be placed in a low sec Prison for say "White collar crime" like fraud or violation of labour codes. He is a convicted murderer so he gets the higher security prison. I can't imagine what those are like. And the inmates will know for what he is in pretty quickly: at least one or two inmates are often skilled enough to be able to read the file of new incomers and then word spreads. Not sure if "murdered a 17 year old boy with a knife" will make them look at you in awe or hate. Maybe some will test him if he is really the "icecold Killer" or just someone with low Impulse Control. I Guess in the last case he might be in for some rude experiences to put it mildly.

Id rather get 17.5 than be shanked to death.

An eye for an eye is the only just verdict in my opinion.

Has the "father" broken down and begged for the niggers freedom yet? Whats the worlds biggest piece of shit doing now?

If I was related to him or god forbid his son I would be planning out how to send him to the worst nigger elderly home in America as soon as he can't wipe himself properly. I genuinely want to know what that worthless faggot is doing.

To be fair, and this has been said about many similar cases, the government will send over apparatchiks to the family to pressure them into not saying anything "inflammatory" and to give a good goy message to the reporters.

And while it's easy to say you'd tell them to fuck off, these guys are pros at what they do, can threaten and pressure the family with the full might of the US government, and family members are unlikely to be in the proper mental headspace to push back.

Granted, it could also just be that his father is a liberal gigacuck that didn't need much prompting to fellate niggers, but unless other evidence exist, I always default to blaming the fed.

Dude will guarantee blow his 20s in prison.
Dude will also blow most of his 30s in prison.

Given the shit food there in combination with bad black genetics, how many years does he have left?

Unfortunately Karmelo’s detractors are a bunch of racist cucks who will never side with a black person over a white person because it’s a grift and because they don’t really care what happens with race relations.
