Justin Timberlake 'Is Finalizing' Deal to Perform at Super Bowl Halftime
3 hours ago
Justin Timberlake is getting back in the game. Thirteen years after his controversial Super Bowl halftime performance with Janet Jackson birthed the term “nipplegate” the 10-time Grammy winner — who’s currently working on his fifth solo album — has been asked to take the stage at the NFL championship in Minneapolis on February 4.

Timberlake’s 2004 performance with Jackson not only caused a stir, but changed the rules of the annual broadcasted sporting event as well. Following the shocking end to their performance of Timberlake’s hit “Rock Your Body” – in which he pulled part of Jackson's costume off, briefly revealing her pierced nipple and right breast – the Federal Communications Commission cracked down on new policies and a five-second broadcast delay during live performances was implemented.

IT WAS A WARDROBE MALFUNCTION

Considering how things are going, this next Super Bowl might be the least-watched in recent memory. Not sure if a safe-bet (sans Nipple-Gate) act like Justin is meant to not stir the controversy pot.

It's official.

Seems like a safe choice by the NFL who desperately wants identity politics shit to go away. Has Justin Timberlake ever been political?

The superbowl with out debate is the most watched program all year world wide.

With the amount of people protesting the viewership in the US may be the lowest, I assume it'll still be the most watched program in the world, I know the NFL sells out big time in the UK and Mexico games and rumors are of expanding or adding teams there.

Why not jump to those markets ? Have who's hot there. I don't completely rule out what @Arkangel said even at this point, they are bleeding views and that's not a debate.

Granted, if things keep going as they are my team might be in the game ^_^

Justin Timberlake has been the sole killer of The Superbowl Halftime show. They've been playing it way too safe since he exposed Janet Jackson's tit.

Get some fucking cool acts again!

Hmm, who's big in both the UK and Mexico?...

I'll do it.

What I never got was, how come Janet Jackson copped the flak for the whole thing, and he basically got away scott free?

muh soggy knees

Yeah, I always thought that was kind of weird. Wasn't Janet Jackson an established artist who had been making hits for more than a decade at the time, whereas Timberlake was still remembered as that one guy in *NSYNC with the ramen noodle hair who sounded (the most) like an utter faggot?

He and Taylor Swift seem to be the most apolitical pop stars who are still around making hits, yes (with some autists people concluding that the latter must be a Trump supporter because of her silence). Compare that to a Katy Perry or a Lady Gaga, who basically sold their souls to Hillary Clinton last year.

He should get Janet Jackson to appear.

I'm pretty sure they're making him perform by himself specifically to avoid what will have happened fourteen years ago by the time it takes place. Besides, he's probably one of the most inoffensive choices they could have gone with otherwise.

I'm sure Janet Jackson was completely innocent and wore a costume with a removable boob-cover and a hideous, giant nipple ornament just for fun, completely unrelated to the superbowl half time show.

BTW, some people are boycotting his appearance because of apparently trying to humiliate Janet Jackson sexually.

I'm going to boycott it because Janet Jackson's nipples look like half chewed licorice allsorts.
