Just learned how the word 'conniving' is spelled.

I've never seen it written down before, I thought it was 'kniving' but the K wasn't silent for whatever reason. You know, because a conniving person is deceitful and would stab you in the back.

I can't be the only one to have made this mistake, right?

I suggest reading more often. You'll have greater knowledge of language and thus avoid phonetic spellings like this.

I usually have the opposite problem, where I have only read a word, and have no idea how to pronounce it. I.e. thinking facade is pronounced like arcade.

I know you're not the only one because I had the exact same realization only a few months ago! All my life I'd thought it was spelled "kniving," too. Only when I spelled it out and got the squiggly red line under it calling me a dumbass did I realize something was amiss. I wonder how many people had this instance of the mandela effect haunt them, and how many of those people are yet to find out how to spell it right.
