I dont think he was this crazy before he lost everything. Seen it happen to a lot of people around the time guys like this were rising. The consequences catch up, and they lose control of their life, all their opportunities for a future have been pulled away. The father figure conparison is still apt, but more to when your father is going through a rough divorce and planning to kill himself, rather than playing catch with fatherly advice on how to improve your confidence. To be frank, I'm surprised Peterson hasn't walked into a tech HQ with a suicide vest on.

I agree. It's like the 60 year old man who was laid off from the factory after 35 years, whose wife divorces him and whose kids are adults and moved on. He's got nothing left and nothing to show for his lifetime of work, to the point you feel a little bad for him.
