John Cleese, a once-beloved member of the iconic comedy sextet “Monty Python,” has been showing signs of Roganism for some time now. Today, the transformation is complete, as right-wing outlet GB News announces Cleese’s grand return to television by way of a new talk show with conservative “free speech advocate” Andrew Doyle. Its theme? “Cancel culture.”

Now if you know anything at all, you probably can tell that the phrases “cancel culture” and “wokeism” are dog whistles for right-wing pundits eager to point out how a changing culture is becoming toxic for people who used to make a living telling “my wife” jokes. Which Cleese is no stranger to: awhile back, Cleese framed his entire standup act around his expensive divorce from his third wife. And something tells us the jokes won’t be any fresher on the comic’s upcoming GB News show, in which he’ll act as commentator and presenter.

Obviously, it doesn’t bode well for fans of Cleese’s earlier work.

Including fellow Python Eric Idle, who has managed to remain a lovely person.

And even including…a past version of Cleese himself.

Let’s just pretend he’s been MIA since A Fish Called Wanda.

In terms of what we can expect from Cleese’s new show, well, this tweet sums it up perfectly:

If you keep hearing "dog whistles" then you're the fucking dog here.

Cleese will die soon but like Atkinson at this point I doubt either will bend the knee and apologise for their prior jokes. They're in the same camp as JK right now, they know what their critics want but have no motivation to comply.

This is one of the best news articles I've ever read. Not only is Roganism a great innovation and a word worth using, it also produced this unforgettable sentence:

Now if you know anything at all, you probably can tell that the phrases “cancel culture” and “wokeism” are dog whistles for right-wing pundits eager to point out how a changing culture is becoming toxic for people who used to make a living telling “my wife” jokes.

Whatever this modern wordsmith is being paid, it's not enough.

Unlike the people writing for Guardian and the other britbong libshit papers, John Cleese and Morrisey are beyond everything, NORMAL. Which cannot be said about British urban modern society in 2022.
Now I do cringe at hearing woke and cancel culture, and they are the domain of cowardly scared centrists, but we cannot make demands that some 80 yrs old dude becomes an anti-troon kiwifarms shitposting militant, let him do his thing.
Also, comedy tends to be fucking impossible when the police comes to arrest you if you ask Loretta why is he wanting to be a woman.

Guys we have made it to page two without any Starwars memes or references despite the title of the article. Can we just take a moment to celebrate the fact that we are not Reddit?

This article doesn't actually explain what "the dark side" is, or why it's bad. It's just a bunch of references to other media, artists, concepts... it does zero arguing. In summary:

John Cleese was in Monty Python (which is good), but the author compares him to Rogan (bad) by saying that he's going to work with a conservative (bad) and talk about cancel culture (bad).
"Now if you know anything at all" (actual quote lmao), 'cancel culture' and 'wokeism' are made up dog whistles where comedians who make boomer jokes (bad?) complain people don't like them any more. John Cleese also made boomer jokes (bad!).
Here are a bunch of tweets where people say they don't like Cleese and think he's problematic (goodthink).
Here's a screencap of a tweet of a meme (m-mic drop?).

If you don't buy the premise that all these things are inherently bad, this article makes no sense. It's a gold-star example of modern internet reinforcement bubble, where it only exists to pat people who agree with it on the back.

The way they phrase it just screams they've based all their concepts of morality on good vs evil tropes from media marketed to children.
Well, yes. And the irony -which I've mentioned before- is that despite their fanaticism over that media, they never properly understood it. The biggest example is how Dumbledore is censored and persecuted because he said things that were inconvenient for the government. Even Rowling herself has been part of the woke mob at some point, and she's only (somehow) speaking against it when she's found herself in the side that is also saying those inconveniences.

I think Roganism is when you are conservative one day and progressive the next, depending to what person you are talking to. I think with Cleese that might be age related cognitive decline
It's more like when people assume Rogan is a RW conservative because everybody is a RW when you're to the (very far away) left of Lenin and Mao.

"Retarded media hacka and comedy hasbeens complain that legend refuses to change his views on comedy.... news at...ah.. er.. twatter!"

Anyone got any Youtube links to Cleese's stand-up act where he goes on and on about his divorce from his third wife? Kind of interested in it now that I know it exists.
