I can't pick one over the other, especially when they're both extremely unique, different versions of the character. I think the origin story situated here with Joaquin Phoenix is still perfect, so much so that it could in theory be applied to Heath Ledgers Joker in many ways. Not that it's needed, but it isn't exactly untrue.

I sincerely hope that Warner Brothers decides to change course from here upon seeing how much money this film is making. I would absolutely love a series of standalone films about the Batman Rogues, but only if they're R-rated and have the same style, atmosphere, and quality cinematography this movie had.
A Two-Face movie would be so fucking good if they had the right actor and directing. A Killer Croc film screams Del Toro. Poison Ivy can be a lulzy middle finger to SJWs since the character acts like one and gets btfo for it. The list could go on and on.

I would want to have a Scarecrow movie done in a similar vein to this Joker movie.

Agreed! Where Joker makes him sympathetic, I would like a Poison Ivy film where she's just as awful as possible, base her on the mongs at Extinction Rebellion, but replace the red food colouring with plant enzymes or something.

i don't know what to say that hasn't already been said, but yes the movie is really good. It made me uncomfortable, in a good way?, and none of that had to do with the 'violence'.
I admit it took some time for me to get into the movie, I wasn't feeling the beginning. But once he met bruce was when the movie really kicked off for me. I was tense and at the edge of my seat throughout. And though I could see some of the plot points coming from a mile away, it was still done in a way that surprised me.

Personally? I don't think it needs a sequel or a continuation or a franchise or anything. Why can't we just keep getting one off pieces like this? That way writers and directors can spend more time on the quality? I mean I know it was pretty much confirmed sticking the Joker name on it was to get butts in seats. But still.
