It turns out that Jiminy's design is based on a grasshopper, not a cricket. Grasshoppers are green, but common crickets are black or brown...

The "fleshy" attribute is just compounded in cartoon styles, not exclusive to this, and will never be exclusive to any animation. Nothing is improper about that.
