Season 3 just came out today, and while Milf Manor decided to take their plot from 30 Rock, apparently Jack Ryan decided to steal theirs from the Simpsons:

no, for real.gif

Jack is forced to go rogue after he uncovers a decades-old secret plan to restore the Soviet Empire.

So far I'm seeing critics complaining that it's too much like The Terminal List and Sean Connery James Bond, it's "Dad TV" shows, there's too much action and violence, etc...

All I can say is fucking yes, please. Imma uber myself some kielbasa, take the vodka out of the freezer and start that shit tonight.

I know nothing about this show other than the fact that it exists. I assumed it would be somehow full of gay current year shit because everything made these days is. Are you saying the previous seasons are not HIV+ and are actually worth watching?

I enjoyed s1. I thought s2 was retardedly dumb CIA propaganda. IIRC in the show Venuzala was under a fascist regime.... Jack illegally infiltrates the country in search of weapon supplies. Finds mining equipment, so then tortures someone, all apparently fine. He then over throws the President to install a female candidate who all we are told stands for "social justice" and it's all, "yay." Then late in the season they throw in, "oh there were death camps" because the self-righteousness of Jack to overthrow the government was nauseating.

Yeah, I liked S1 a lot but thought S2 sucked. The female presidential canidate in that season was so pure and righteous while the male one was so horribly corrupt and evil that I thought for sure there'd be a twist where the female was actually just as corrupt... but nope. The writing for that season in general just kinda sucked.

Still, I'll probably watch S3 soon.

Yes. More so the first than the second, as there's a bit of fumbling in that one but whenever the plot stops focusing on the election sideplot, it's really good.

Jack's old CO was murdered by some crossdressing German PMC. The broad was a grating Mary Sue and the election shit was badly shoehorned into the plot, yes, but for Jack taking out the commie was personal. Also in the ending, it's revealed the real bad guy was the old fuck senator played by Michael O'Neill.

Season 1 is great, Season 2 was.... definitely not as good, but I'd say it's still worth a watch just don't expect it to be anywhere as good as the first one. What I'm hearing about the third is that it's going to be great and so far I'm really fucking satisfied with what I'm seeing.

Ok, I can't vouch for the rest of the season, but I can tell you that the first episode is really fucking good, it starts slow (not boring, just setting up the plot/the players) but then it fucking picks up. Definitely excited to see the rest.

This is basically my take as well. I rolled my eyes numerous times during Season 2. I dropped it at one point and picked it back up out of boredom. It's insanity particularly when you consider Venezuela's actual political landscape.

Hearing this season is about Russia makes me apprehensive as well considering the narratives on Russia in recent years.

I still remember that SE.01 episode of him going
YEMAN!? I can't go to yeman , i'M JuSt aN AnaLYiSt!?!
Jim is back! Now he’s all grizzled and shit! (Cock somehow emerges from your Alexa™️ Smarturinal and smacks you in the face)

Jaaaaaaak Ryan

It's actually all pretty handled pretty even-handedly. Russia's not really the bad guy, a faction of old Soviet loyalists are (and their cause is never really demonized, just their methods).

Anyway, yeah, S3 was great -- much, much better than S2 and probably even better than the first season.

Commies are the enemy, not Russians, regular Russians are actually portrayed in a pretty positive light its the ones who want a throwback to the USSR who are the villains.

Definitely worth a watch and I agree so far that it's at least as good if not better than Season 1 though I'm only halfway through

The season so far is good, I am up to episode 4, but I am having a hell of a time telling these people apart. There's like 20 greasy Slavs who all look alike and I am struggling to care about any of them.

Liking it better than season 2 although that could be because we get gorgeous eastern European countryside and old world cities instead of another brown hellhole like the first two seasons.
