Damn, even Dobson's a better artist than he is. I like how the tiger furfag doesn't have a full body. The anatomy on all of them is terrible. Is that horse a man or a woman?
 
That's Red Shetland, a parody of Red Sonja. Groat is friends with a couple, Ryan and Candy Dewalt, who are the same pair (known as Tet and Trixi, or Arty and Vinci) who have -- until recently? -- been hosting Dave Hopkins's epically shitty webcomic Jack. If the Dewalts aren't lolcows themselves (they haven't released their daughters' actual names even to people who have known them for literal decades, referring to them as "Valentine" and "Moxie" -- the older one gets dressed up as various Doctors Who, with the major "achievement" of her toddler life being shoved into a Fifth Doctor costume and photographed with Peter Davison), they are certainly expert lolcow enablers. They have signal-boosted many of Groat's pleas for money, for example (and Hopkins's, for that matter).

Most furries are not rich by any means. Maybe the ones that spend money on guns nonstop sure. Most cant afford plane tickets to cons so they just all carpool and make a huge roadtrip out of it.
Also keep in mind most of the money Jim spent on guns wasnt his it was his wife's
 
Most of Groat's tendencies and bad personality have nothing to do with his politics. Oh sure, he invents liberal boogeymen that persecuted him all the time, but it's not like that's somehow unique to him or one political leaning. (Hell, there's a whole thread on the tumblr subforum for stories about eeeevil cishet rightwingers lurching out of the shadows to misgender the dear protagonist.) If he were liberal he'd just use a different flavor of imaginary strawmen, like Dobson or Jeph Jacques or Randydavan Milholland.

The vast majority of Groat's fucked-upness is that he's still mentally locked in an era when people like him could so easily be relevant... the same era his art is stuck in. There's a whole little group of them that I've always called "The Great Old Ones of Furry", that are still drawing like they did in the eighties, still telling stories from the eighties, and still lamenting that all these damn kids have come in and ruined their fandom because it's not like it was in the eighties anymore. The fandom was much smaller then, you practically had to know someone that was in it to introduce you to content or find out about events, it had a vague aura of exclusiveness that elitist nerds treasured. And the small pond meant it was much easier to stand out and be recognized. So you had this group that developed into big names, and then could never get over the fact that easy access to the internet rendered them obsolete.

Of course, this group is gradually getting smaller... two of its more prominent members, Jim Hardiman and Stephen Addlesee, croaked awhile back. Addlesee and Groat were practically clones of each other, although if you measured them directly Groat might actually have come off as slightly more laid-back and well-adjusted.
 
Addlesee? lol wasnt he the guy who blocked everybody on furaffinity who was "following" him? Or was that the guy who was the "certified artist?" So that guy died huh?
Jim Hardiman was still drawing for a while before he died but I dont think he ever had the delusions of grandeur that Groat had or the overall shitty manchild demeanor and actions that made Groat just a terrible person. Hardiman had a lot of medical issues that Groat would have loved to take advantage of to get cash off someone. Hardiman had way better art too
Heres another or the Old Ones who died but he didnt get into the fandom until mid 2000s even though he had been drawing comics for the past 15 years before it

Hardiman expressed most of his more foul personality traits through his alter egos, like his "girlfriend" the Angry Black Woman™ Desiree Lee, or the pedo identity Bulletsoup. (Hardiman was always hilarious about the pedo stuff. He had like two little girl characters that he'd draw for pages and pages getting railed by huge adult dicks. One was a midget cop who would arrest the guy for pedophilia afterward, the other was a demon who would violently murder the guy when he was done. Because punishing the guy totally meant Hardiman had no pedo leanings himself.)

Hardiman's attempts to explain how these identities weren't him were prime lolcow material, though. Of course with Desiree Lee he had the whole "she's my girlfriend she's at my house right now that's why our IP is the same", but the Bulletsoup one was even more hilarious. He claimed the guy lived on his block, and that this was enough to cause them to share an IP address. And the most hilarious thing about it is that people believed him.

Yeah I remember some of that now. Whats funny is Hardiman is still way more beloeved than Groat. Maybe its because Hardiman actually drew stuff later on and Groat just stagnated.
Hardiman is still a better aritst imo though. His shading is top notch.
Im actually kinda interested in starting a thread about Hirtes. That guy was easy to milk a few years back. He would respond at every slight.

The only downside to documenting Hirtes' lolcow activities is that he will inevitably show up, and then never leave. Which may sound amusing (it's usually amusing here when a lolcow shows up and throws a tantrum), but Hirtes is... different. He has zero other social contact than arguing with people that hate him online. He has no friends, no family, not even any online asspatters. So latching on to any forum where he's discussed and never turning loose is the closest thing there is for him to having friends. He'll sit there and respond to every single comment with the same old arguments, calling everyone who criticizes him furries (and insisting he's not one).

Nowadays, he might not even own up to being Hirtes, expecting us to believe some random dude just showed up to defend Hirtes' honor.

Hmm. I think your right. The appeal of a lolcow to me is watching somebody implode because of repercussions of said behavior. Its like setting up camp knowing a train wreck is going to happen and waiting and watching for it to happen. If what you said is true then the train wreck will never happen because there are no repercussions. He literally has no one.
He did hang out with Groat in the past and has a huge hate boner for Groat for something that happened probably involving commissions.
I suppose my last question would be where does Hirtes get the money to eek out his miserable existence?

He's a welfare leech, one of those that proudly proclaims he's "pulling one over on Uncle Sucker" by being entirely reliant on the government to live.

Which is also a major reason he hates Groat, as I understand it. When Mikey boy was publishing his furry harem toering fetish magazine, someone reported him to the government because his particular form of welfare required him to have zero other sources of income to keep receiving it. Mikey, like a true parasite, decided to stop publishing his furry porn so he could keep getting his :tugboat:. He's always had several suspects for who reported him, and Groat is one of them.

Groat would do something like that. This is a guy who put industrial laxative in a "friends" drink so hes shit his pants and made him take the bus home. Its also hypocritical that Groat is a leech himself.
