Japan Will ‘Disappear’ Without Action on Births, PM’s Aide Says

Mori speaks after number of births slumped to record low

Details yet to come on Kishida’s promised birthrate policies

Japanese Population Forecast to Shrink by One-Third in Next Five Years

Japan will cease to exist if it can’t slow a fall in its birth rate that threatens to wreck the social safety net and economy, according to an adviser to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

“If we go on like this, the country will disappear,” Masako Mori said in an interview in Tokyo after Japan announced on Feb. 28 the number of babies born last year slumped to a record low. “It’s the people who have to live through the process of disappearance who will face enormous harm. It’s a terrible disease that will afflict those children,” she added.

Last year, about twice as many people died as were born in Japan, with fewer than 800,000 births and about 1.58 million deaths. An alarmed Kishida has vowed to double spending on children and families in a bid to control the slide, which is progressing even faster than forecast.

The population has fallen to 124.6 million from a peak of just over 128 million reached in 2008, and the pace of decline is increasing. Meanwhile the proportion of people 65 or over rose to more than 29% last year. While South Korea has a lower fertility rate, Japan’s population is shrinking faster.

“It’s not falling gradually, it’s heading straight down,” said Mori, an upper house lawmaker and former minister who advises Kishida on the birthrate problem and LGBTQ issues. “A nosedive means children being born now will be thrown into a society that becomes distorted, shrinks and loses its ability to function.”

If nothing’s done, the social security system would collapse, industrial and economic strength would decline and there wouldn’t be enough recruits for the Self-Defense Forces to protect the country, she added.

While reversing the slide now would be extremely difficult due to the fall in the number of women of child-bearing age, the government must do everything it can to slow the plunge and help mitigate the damage, Mori said.

Kishida has yet to announce the content of his new spending package, but has said it will be “on a different dimension” from previous policies. So far he’s mentioned increasing child allowances, improving childcare provision and changing working styles.

But critics contend throwing money at families who have children is not enough to address the problem. A paper from a government panel on gender equality said comprehensive changes are needed that include reducing the burden on women of raising children and making it easier for them to participate in the workforce after giving birth.

Mori criticized what she said was a tendency to think about the issue separately from finance, trade, and particularly from female empowerment.

“Women’s empowerment and birth rate policies are the same,” she said. “If you deal with these things separately, it won’t be effective.”

The Japs are being irrational, the severe birthrate decline is merely just an affect of the Baby Boom generation getting older and the younger generations being unable to procreate at their levels due to a mixture of birth control and a shitty workplace environment. Realistically, I expect the population decline to plateau by the 2040s - 2050s, with it dipping to around 90 - 100 Million at the least

It still makes me laugh that this guy's entire legacy is literally just this meme.

Also weeks on suicide watch.
Not the worst meme to be remembered by tbh. Odds are that people will still quote Japanese funny sex man a hundred years from now irrespective of whether Abe himself is remembered.

E Michael Jones claims the answer is to import various niggers and flips and get them to swear allegiance to Catholicism, i really hope he's murdered by a pack of catholic pavement apes in south bend...

There is a big push by Globalists for Japan to just take immigrants, but that shit won't work on such a high-trust society with such a deep cultural mesh of norms and expectations. They are taking immigrants sure, but they have strict standards and vastly prefer if you are a Japanese descendant coming back. Loads of japanese-brazilians going there.

The real solution is to try and fix the work culture to focus less on insane hours and put more effort on family building.

There is no solution that will not cause at least partial discomfort. The line NEEDS to go down for a while. It is better that they sacrifice some wealth and prosperity now and have a future than worship the mighty line that goes up and find in the future it crashes permanently.

Need to do the following

1. Make work hours less crazy
2. People earn the money needed to be able to have a family
3. Socialize the young better at school, especially with the opposite sex
4. More work opportunities outside the over crowded cities
5. Ban anime

The birthrate is fucked because of the insane urbanization of Japan. When you crowd almost all Japanese into like 3 cities, your birth rate crashes because of the high cost of living in cities. Even on Hokkaido/Kyushu/Shikoku, there's like one city which absorbs most of the population. Japan has totally neglected their rural towns and even second/third-tier cities.

Fixing their work culture won’t even affect productivity, it’s not like they’re actually spending that extra time working.

I'm pretty sure the largest cause of falling birth rates is "female empowerment".
Bringing women into the workforce basically crippled the birth rate. When are you going to find time to marry and raise kids if you work all day?
Women are also unwilling to marry men with lower salaries than them, meaning both low and high income women are fighting for the same men.
Also I wouldn't be shocked if this advisor eventually suggests importing third worlders to keep the ponzi scheme going. Cause as we all know if there's one thing Nigerians love doing it's being productive members of society and paying for the welfare of aging non Nigerians. Also obviously doing no crime, we all know crime in Nigeria is very low. No way they're going to ruin high trust societies with fraudulent behaviour.

I remember reading some speculation that mangas and shows like Spy X Family only exist to promote an idyllic view of child rearing to get Japanese young people to have kids. Quite frankly they might do well with a few social media plants that sponsor having kids.

Japan is not going to fucking disappear any time soon.

Keep in mind this is the population of a country the size of California. The neoliberals are mad that the population isn't going to indefinitely explode and this will make wages increase, costs of living go down. The population isn't going to disappear. The birth rate will adapt to support a smaller population. that's just how it works
