I've been to japan and they do have some DEEPLY seated societal problems far beyond porn. Many of them are mentally stuck in the '80s, the last "real" decade before the US has imploded their economy for being too independent. This kind of retard conservatism is everpresent. Workplaces use fax machines, floppy drives and call recorders using tape, they use computers from the eighties with a variety of wacky legacy codes and hardware for corporate use, everything must be filed on paper in in triplicates, physical everything must be used and so on. The workplace culture is also beyond fucked and geared totally around seniority and getting there while not making waves. Literally the only thing that matters is seniority. The older ones will get promoted, the older manager's stupid ideas will get implemented and you generally have to tool your life around your managers whims. You cannot leave work before your boss does, or you will become a social pariah, so if your boss dislikes his shrew of a wife and stay in until 8pm playing gachashit on his phone, then you are shit out of luck. Your entire day is make-believe tedious busywork anway, putting on the illusion of being busy, rather than actually being busy. Productivity, efficiency, talent, skill, never gets to factor into anything. Your entire life is just being polite, not making waves and getting through the day. You don't actually need to do shit, you don't need ambition, personal skill or anything, seniority will carry you there, you just have to wait it out and pretend everything is fine. Oh yeah, never mind the country falling apart and imploding from debt and the lack of childbirth either, just pretend everything is right, keep smiling and carry on the day.

Of course, the hikkis and the assorted coomers are absolutely degenerate, but on some level I do get why would they choose living with parents or in a capsule hotel and just keep wanking and watching anime all day. I get why would you just want to lay down and give up pretending, that you just don't want to participate in such a soulless machine that has zero respect for you as a person. You get to enjoy some freedom, at the cost of everything else.

And the best part is, there is no fixing this.
