i hope we get some goldeneye scenerario when young bond can take the piss of the more current year things.

Yeah it's far from the worst, but I didn't fall for the reappraisal. It kinda drags and Tracy is an over-rated bond girl. Hard to believe in the sincerity when half of the run time is just Bond time-tabling hook-ups with cuckoo chicks in an asylum.
Its probably because she's the closest so far to a real love interest and not another fling. That was a very sad ending.
Though the absurdity of the big evil mastermind of the series showing up out of nowhere to do a driveby shooting almost ruined it, I couldn't help but laugh. It was the same thing as Rosa Klebb suddenly appearing as the maid at the end of From Russia. It's quite jarring when the big bad shows up doing henchman work. It made more sense in From Russia, disguised spies being a more prominent theme in that one, it almost came like a jumpscare. Blofeld and the Fraulein committing a high speed hood nigga style driveby on the other hand is just absurd.

Edit: I need to remember when these were made. Hood nigga drive-bys weren't even a thing for another 20 years weren't they?

What do you guys think the next movie Bond's gun should be? I really hope it's not the fucking PPK again to be honest unless he's in the tux maybe.

I wouldn't hate it if they went back to the P99 since Pierce is my favorite Bond but I also wouldn't mind the PDP. I personally think it should stick to being a Walther and perhaps some book elements brought in where he's got the "long barreled Colt" in the car. It would be sick if said "long barreled Colt" was like a 6 inch Delta Elite or something like that.

Do you guys have any opinions on Johnny English and The Avengers?

I don't know the film (I'd also like guidance on that) but the Avengers TV show is awesome, carried completely by the characters but it has decent writing too. It's less a conventional spy show, and one foot into Doctor Who type premises however.

If anyone is interested I'd begin with season 4 for production and casting reasons. The first few episodes get the point across.

The Avengers 98 is pretty fun and underrated. It's basically a fun campy Roger Moore Bond movie done in the 90's. The cast looks like their having fun and Connery chews the scenery beautifully. The score by Joel McNeely is also fantastic.

Johnny English was pretty fun too. I need to revisit it though and check out its sequels.

I don't think I saw The Avengers outside of when it was released and I didn't like it. Was there terrible CGI bees? No idea if I was too young or what I'd think of it now. Never seen Johny English, but I always have been curious because aren't they written by Puris and Wade? I vaguely recalls seeing some clips or something that actually looked amusing.

Austin Powers was good, the sequel was the same jokes plust some more, some which worked great and others that didn't. When they tried that for a third time, it didn't work. To me it fits into the style of comedy that doesn't stay fresh because you remember the jokes and see everyone coming.

The good Bondish parody is OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies. That's a, if you know you know but most will just see it is in French and miss out.

So far the only bad things I’ve seen “journalists” and “reviewers” say about First Light is the “Toxic Masculinity” thing and people expecting it to just be “Hitman with hair” which IOI have said time and time again that it isn’t.

It’s downloaded on my Xbox Series X and I shall be playing it as soon as they let me. If it’s shit, I’ll let you all know. From what I’ve heard though, several people have said “Bond fans will love it.”
We’ll see.

I haven't watched bc it's not the type of media I like, but I remember the movie was universally disliked and still is.
