People are hypocrites and it's fundamentally useless to point this out. This is in large part because everyone's seen the memes accusing their side of being hypocrites and they have canned responses to square the circle for themselves and reassure their allies.
"It's different when we do it" is pervasive specifically because they think they're the good guys and good guys can't be bad guys.
