Constant downtimes where the site would move from domain to domain, then be Tor only for a while, as well as a forced password reset that ended up locking a lot of users out of their accounts due to them using throwaway e-mails where they couldn't reset their passwords. One, you had to have a special sort of autism to keep browsing during that time, and two, if you've lost your account then you're less likely to return under a new one even after the storm is over.

We had a database breach (partially successful - someone got in but it crashed as they were trying to download it). Some people got scared. Some people lost access to their accounts (Null forced password reset and not everybody remembered their burner e-mails used to make account here), some other people got scared, some probably moved to other things when the site was offline \ TOR-only (personally I have some fond memories of the TOR-only era).
