It's more like the tree version of an amoeba. It's pretty much an entire forest of sucker shoots all from one tree.

Personally, I think shit like fungi are closer to some kind of nature gods. In some forests the mycelium networks run through the entire forest and connect all the trees together at the roots where they help facilitate nutrient and information transfer between the trees.
