Concerning the window dressing: Distraction is the sole purpose of political theater; with the modern world no longer having reason to hide its true nature as a rapidly expanding clutter of novel forms of masturbation competing for our attention. The ballot has been relegated to being just another participation trophy for people who get endorphins out of congratulating themselves for affecting positive change through the people they blame for their own problems. Periodically changing out the faces decorating broken machinery is the only definition of progress allowed or platitudinally encouraged.

Vote or don't vote. The third world has been imported to counter-vote whichever role you're willing to play - Just be sure you keep paying those taxes that fund your counter-votes.

I don't vote for a number of reasons, but it largely boils down to a combination of:

1) If you vote, you take on moral responsibility for the actions of the state. I support republicanism as a way of organizing society because I believe it yields better results, or at least did in the past. I'm not sure if republicanism can survive concentrated media and industry like we have today. But while I can stand from the sidelines and editorialize on who I think is right and what should be done, I don't feel comfortable with the idea of exercising violence - which is what all political activity ultimately is, a state is a state because of its ability to wield violence to enforce its will - on other people.

Specific, concrete examples of this for me would be the idea of mass deportations (it will cause a lot of harm to people who are victims of circumstances, like the anchor babies that were raised here) and everything to do with American espionage and military adventurism.

2) Normalfaggots get voting totally backwards because they say (bleat) "you can't complain if you didn't vote." Voting is implicitly giving your consent to the system. The system is going to stand regardless of what I do. Participating in it beyond what is coerced from me (like taxes/obeying laws) is no different from being robbed and enslaved, it's being victimized but still recognizing that fact. It's when you vote that you become a willing participant in it.

This goes even further for me as a Southerner. My view of that is kind of like Lysander Spooner and the Heroes of America, secession was motivated by evil intentions, the Confederacy was not a good state worthy of loyalty, but the Union conquest of the South was also morally and legally wrong whether or not it had a good result.

So why should I want to dignify a government that violently invaded and destroyed my homeland?

3) 2020 was an obviously crooked election and I don't want to dignify what is clearly, at the federal level, a banana republic dictatorship.


Right now I am inclined to vote for Trump because of all this crap, but I'm still conflicted about it. I may end up doing what I've thought about before: cast a write-in vote for Thomas Jefferson or Watauga Association independence (a statelet in what's now Northeast Tennessee that had de facto independence, due to Britain refusing to administer land west of the Proclamation Line, before the American Revolution even started).

The whole “you can’t bitch if you don’t vote” is retarded. If you don’t want to vote for any of the candidates on the ballot, what then? There’s no “none of the above” option for obvious reasons.

Thing is low voter turnout doesn’t really mean shit anyway. NYC mayoral elections only get something like 15-20 percent turnout and they’ll still pretend it was like everyone voted for whoever ends up winning.

Therefore it doesn’t really matter and voting for the lesser of two evils is gay because they’re going to keep doing what they’re doing anyway.

I vote, and I think people should go vote. But even if 100% of population went out to vote, it wouldn't make much difference.
People who do not vote are not that big of an issue. People who do not vote are usually lazy, don't care about what happens in their country or realize that voting doesn't matter, because it's all rigged anyway.
People who I wouldn't want to have voting anyway.
I vote, because:
a) Having a choice in the matter of who gets into government is nice.
b) Moving your fat ass out of the house and putting your vote on the ballot fills me with a sense of accomplishment.
c) Even if my party doesn't get a majority or president doesn't win, I can blame current state of my country on people who voted for a different color.

Universal suffrage was a mistake. I get the idea behind it (everyone gets their voice heard on Election Day), but we've ended up with a system where the poor get to say the rich should pay for everything and they get to vote because of racial identity politics (and ethno-voting simply showed the world that multiculturalism would never work since minorities vote based on skin color and nothing else), and they get to vote for who looks better on TV and not by the ideas. The people who have skin in the game and who are expected to pay for everything get outvoted by net takers.

But do I vote? Not any more. I voted for the lesser of two evils for ages until one day I just decided I was done having to decide between the guy who outright says he's going to do away with my rights or the guy who swears he's going to support my rights and then goes out of his way to violate them with the stroke of a pen. They can do what they want in DC and my state capitol, I don't care since I can't do anything about it except ignore them and live my life the best I can. I don't hurt people and I don't take their stuff. I don't lie, cheat, steal, or kill. I just want left alone and since I can't be left alone in their system, I'm pulling myself out of it as much as I can, including by not supporting them on Election Day.

Actually voting is irresponsible if you are uninformed about what and whom you are voting for. It becomes a 50/50 chance that you are voting against your self-interest, probably worse if you live in a multi-party system. I have two female cousins, one with a couple of kids, who are pretty apolitical and even sometimes ask another male cousin (picture a smug, overweight, middle-aged Reddit libtard and you'll probably guess his appearance and definitely his politics) who they should vote for, and it's naturally whatever establishment neolib Democrat. The one without kids has not been so affected, as she is unmarried, still lives with her parents, and even works as a social worker at Planned Parenthood, but the one with kids was one of those parents who ended up horrified by what her kids were being taught. Unlike those parents in Virginia who voted out their governor last time, she's too much of an airhead to see the connection between the people she's voting for and what's going on in school, so continues getting advice from the other cousin.
Another thing I notice is that there is an inverse degree of passion for a particular election for how much it affects your daily life, which is another reason uninformed voting is irresponsible. Garbage collection, the state of the roads, local crime, and the responsiveness of my city's emergency services are things that impact my life far more than the ability to get an abortion three states away, the next country of ungrateful brown people we impose democracy on, or the state of the space program. My town is pretty mixed with regards to party affiliation (rust belt suburb on the edge of the urban-rural divide) but when they put all those refugees overflowing from the city 300 miles away that drives our state's politics in the hotel down the street, not a single person with a MAGA flag, hat, or bumper sticker could name a single member of the city council, or even the mayor who made it possible.

I've pretty much always voted because there's usually some piddly downballot shit like garbage collection or whatever. But I do mail-in voting because
a) I started voting when I worked overnights
b) it gives me the chance to slowly go through the ballot, especially for checking into what ballot measures actually do vs what they claim to do

If you're not really looking into what any of it's about and just checking shit at random _that_ is a lot more irresponsible than realizing you don't know shit and sitting it out

Honestly, since I'm late to the game, I'm just going to say this now. Voting is nothing but an illusion. Every single vote is not counted for at all and that all that matters to those in charge is submission to the government.
