Hypothetically speaking

A Person saw someone in trouble, being swept by high tides
Said person leapt right in to try and save them, and severely underestimated the current
and was also swept away and died

Would his death be considered a suicide? since his actions led to him dying
would Religion also view their actions as an act of suicide? since his own actions caused his death?
Would deific entities whose entire religious doctrines is about "not killing yourself" also punish such actions since in all technicality, the person killed themselves?

If talking about Christianity, is all about the intentions of your heart. In your scenario said person would not have its death treated as a suicide by higher beings, it might actually give said person a few extra good points since it was trying to save someone. Still, religion or not, intent is what makes the difference. Suicide you are actively trying to end your life, dying by lets say, running down a wet flight of stairs and slipping, falling on your neck and dying, is an accident, and context will dictate if it was sheer stupidity or a horrible tragedy.

iirc suicide is a sin in the Church because it is a death of despair, and despair is a sin because it means you don't have faith in God's promise. That's why historically we look the other way if a guy kills himself to evade capture by the enemy or does some heroic thing to save someone else that'll probably end his life in the process.

Otherwise you could just label 'living a full life until you die at 80' suicide because you weren't doing everything possible to live until 90.

Kazuki Takahashi's death was ruled as a drowning, not a suicide. So no.
