As someone who has played TTRPGs for years, yes they are for nerds. They are social games with a lot of decision making. You have to be able to role play your character, work in a group, imagine what's happening, collect information, think of solutions & strategize. You also have to be able to deal with & work around RNG.
If you can't do these things I can't recommend it. You will probably just be bored, & will bring down the fun for everyone else.
You also need a group of people you can tolerate. Some people that play these games are insufferable. Especially nowadays since D&d is a lot more mainstream. Troons love D&d sadly, & the creators bend the knee to them.
