Is Cancel Culture Beneficial in Anyway?

Cancel culture has been a thing online for a while used to describe people losing careers and connections due to a series of past or current actions being brought to light.

Question is with its recent growth online and how it been weaponzied against people is any of this actually beneficial to helping anyone? and does it actually do more harm than good due to more and more innocent people have been harmed due to it?

Have you seen anyone rightly "cancelled," and if so how do you feel about it?

I generally like the idea of nobody being able to feel invincible in industries typically dominated by nepotism and favoritism. Cancel culture however is just so obviously artificial and used by those same nepotistic leaders as an excuse to get rid of anyone they don't like that it really does have no real benefit whatsoever.

"Cancel culture" is just a more recent term for social sanctions, which have always been around and always will be, they're an essential feature of human society and derive directly from human nature. What has changed, and what is a problem, is exactly what people are being "canceled" for, both in terms of the nature and severity of their infraction. But obviously there are things that in a sane world deserve to get you "canceled," such as being a pedo, being a tranny, a commie, etc.

I say it should only be used against the average person if they did something hanous. Which would be pedo shit, needless cruelty towards living things and the like. The concept of social ostracization is nothing new. However it used to eat something as it was directed towards those that were of actual harm to a community.

What's referred as "cancel culture" is just another avenue for people to power tip and act like counts to one another.

My biggest hangup is that if you're willing to take someone's job/livelihood it better be for a good reason. Because you never know about pushing the wrong person that may actually say "fuck it" and retaliate in a more violent fashion.

There has never and will never be an example of cancel culture being beneficial in the grand scheme because even if its used to cancel the most dispicable person it'll only justify it's use and perpetuate it.

Nope, because at the end of the day it relies heavily on mob mentality and usually is started because of material being presented out of context.

For every person who has bounced back after being cancelled, you have even more people who have had their lives ruined because they didn’t have the following/money to be able to prove their innocence.

Which is why in my opinion, Twitter is far worse than KiwiFarms. Twitter is everything KiwiFarms is accused of doing.

Dave Chappelle is far from the average Joe who is cancelled.

Most of the people who get "cancelled" are too rich to be affected, and usually are able to use it as a grift and make a boatload of money/fame. But the average Joe, well, good luck. It's just a continuation of the social ostracization of yore, is it ok since it's the other way around? Debatable. Is it something that is new? No, not at all.

We often like to say that "bullying is society's immune system," and that if SJWs and wokescolds ever experienced any real opposition in their life (including and especially bullying), they would have turned out to be much better people.

However, as I've stated earlier, if bullying really were society's immune system, it has a rather worrying tendency to develop autoimmunity.

"Soft" Cancel Culture is the problem. This is when someone is (allowed to be) run out of town, and forced to assimilate elsewhere. "Hard" cancel culture is the proper solution to pedophiles, thieves, furries and their ilk.

Soft cancels can breed a form of super-predator, beyond a single band of child-raping gypsy wandering from town to town. After a few generations you are ankle-deep in junkies and degenerates camped out along the plaza and main thoroughfares in every major city.
