Anyone know of this movie/franchise? The plot for the first movie was ridiculous (and a number of people would say making it a comedy was a mistake) but the CGI work was alright for the budget it was produced on. A sequel, titled Iron Sky: The Coming Race, was crowdfunded and released in January 2019, to a more hostile critical reception and a box office bomb, culminating in the bankruptcy of two production companies involved in the sequel's production: Blind Spot Pictures, and Iron Sky Universe. Apparently there was also accusations of something relating to the movie being a ponzi scheme and professional artists going unpaid.

I thought Iron Sky was pretty good for what it was. Only saw part of the second one and it's one of those things that really didn't need to exist.

From their facebook page there is allegedly a Soviet Mars trilogy thing in the works that makes heavy use of AI, which tells me that it's almost certainly bullshit.

Apparently it's legit but I doubt it will get anywhere. They want to use crowdfunding to get it off the ground. The big issue with that is to my understanding, Timo Vuorensola (Director of Iron Sky and its sequel, Iron Sky: The Coming Race) does not have a great reputation these days.

Maybe legit insofar as the creator set it up but the whole thing looks like bullshit that will never actually happen.

Like on the fucking website it basically asks for volunteers to basically write and make the fucking movie. The only compensation I saw listed was "First position to acquire the ownership of the IP we are building together."

The first movie was stuck in production too long. All the anti-Bush political satire fell flat by the time it released. Not Finland's greatest cultural export.

Essentially inferior to the Fascist version.

(It's an low-budget Italian movie and the comedy is hard to understand if you don't speak Italian, sadly, but the Italian mission to conquer Mars goes exactly as expected)

Anyone know of this movie/franchise?

Decent special effects and decent artist work for the designs/costumes, but the main point is that it simply wasn't funny, it had those weird interracial undertones and as @millais said the entirety of the political parody felt like Euro spoofing on bush done five years too late.

It simply wasn't funny, and that's a death sentence.

It was written by a woman, so now you know why the majority of the plot is about a black man coming for the white women and hating on Sarah Palin 8 years after her failed bid for vice president

Hellsing is far superior when it comes to the spectacle of nazis returning

I love Iron Sky, though I've only seen the first one. I want to see the second too eventually, though I hear that it leans pretty hard into the idea that Trump only got elected due to Russian interference and I'm less enthusiastic about films when I know they have political sperging in it. I only don't mind the interracial stuff in Iron Sky because it kinda compliments the plot and it's just really funny that the white supremacist woman Nazi ends up with the black man, though probably not in the way the writers intended. The art design is really where it thrives though. Martial Industrial artist Laibach also made the music and it's fucking awesome regardless of what you think of the film itself:
I like the movie more for aesthetic purposes compared to any point it's trying to make. Though, I do believe there could have been a point, and I'm amongst many of the fans who wish we got a more serious film in tone (and less liberal). On a smaller note, I appreciate the fact they have actual German actors speaking actual German in so many of the scenes. So many movies chicken out when it comes to having multiple languages and either make it very rare or just have them speak in accents, I like that in Iron Sky they just don't speak English at all when they don't have to.

Plus there's more for the femcoomers in Hellsing

I enjoyed it for what it was, but it should have been a one and done thing (especially since the world is nuked at the end). I think the actors did the script more justice than it deserved because the satirical stuff is sort of dropped midway through the plot.

Essentially inferior to the Fascist version.

I remember hearing about it and finding the hilarious teaser trailer the director made for it, but never the actual movie.

I found that the movie is actually all on YouTube with in built captions. It's pure kino.

You probably will need a lot of knowlodge of Italian Fascist history to get all the jokes though. Like for example, one of the first ones is how they crash into mars and there is no oxygen. As they are suffocating the leader says that they will breathe because man cannot bow down to nature, they will defy and overcome it. He shouts 'I don't care, breathe!' and they all slowly start to get their breath back. This both references fascist revolutionary nature and desire to go full on that sort of total takeover of society and the well known fascist song "Me ne frego" whose lyrics should make the context here clear.

A cunt after Melvin Kavinsky's spade-colored heart. Nasty. Hellsing isn't much better as it's made by a >nip< trying to pontificate about muh nahziiiiis featuring a mysteriously shitskin british woman. China's reverse Nanking'ing on Japan can't come soon enough, it might actually de-nigger the place considering who still occupies nippon to this day.

I don' remember any black women, so that has to be from the 2001 series that deviated from the source material.
As for the nazis in the show, it "pontificates" nothing.
The antagonist is a deranged apolitical warrior who has come out of hiding thinking himself Saint George ready to slay the dragon.
There is the scene where the French mercenary calls the SS vultures for robbing Europe of valuables down to taking gold teeth from the dead, but it's not wrong that they took gold from the dead, and any disparagments is made by a character where that fits the personality, and honestly gets overshadowed by the spectacle

That’s gay. The obvious Soviet version of a Nazi moon, besides a Soviet moon, is Soviet Venus. Shrouded in clouds. Was long imagined as a lush tropical planet before we could actually send probes there. The Venera missions were technical masterpieces.

I haven't watched the sequel yet, but I'm a pretty big fan of the first movie. Not only is it very goofy and over-the-top, but it has some pretty impressive special effects given how low the budget was. It also helps that it came out before the left started calling everyone they didn't like Nazis and fascists, so the satire is actually kind of witty as opposed to coming off as blatant political sperging. I still have my steelbook Blu-ray copy of the director's cut, which was actually signed by the director himself. There's also a video game on Steam called Iron Sky Invasion, though I don't know if it's any good or not.

Wasn't there some movie about a hollow earth with Nazis inside?

You're thinking of Nazis at the Center of the Earth, which was a mockbuster of Iron Sky made by The Asylum. Funnily enough, the sequel to Iron Sky also takes place in a hollow Earth.

Liked the ship designs in the first film, haven't seen the second. Wish there were some files to 3D print the International Force ships, to hell with paying 200 bucks for the Lightwave packs. I did do a nicely detailed one of the Gotterdammerung though.
