Just got done playing a hooky copy of First Light, as a kid I was a huge James Bond fanboy (To the point I collected the comics and even owned a ton of the trading cards, remember those? I do but barely anyone does) and since moving out I haven't really dabbled or fucked with James Bond stuff, it was a big "Family sit down and watch together" thing I found hard to replicate yknow?

Anyhow, exposition aside, I really enjoyed the game, it did feel like I was playing a James Bond movie and it was going back to the era of bond I loved (Sorry guys, I don't like the Craig era), I love the focus on whacky gadgets and a smug, smarmy bond who fucks and quips, it's goofy fun. It definitely has it's dramatic moments which I am fine with because it gave everything stakes and a sense of why James would be so hellbent on doing what he is as it felt personal to him, which was usually how they played it in some movies.

I think the cocktease with the Valhalla was annoying though, what a way to pull a Chekov's gun and have it be an absolute let down, I really was hoping for a high-speed action segment but with all the game had done up to that point it feels like critiquing a tasty and delicious cake because the icing wasn't my favorite colors. I think the focus around the Q-watch was a good idea and I hope they expand on it more going forward with more gadgets and a wider array of opportunities in missions.

I am also fucking glad that M/Moneypenny aren't the typical DIVERSE STRONG WOMAN stereotypes, I saw the initial outrage over the races and wasn't taken by it (I don't care as long as a character is written well) but I did have a fear that they'd both be "always right" and James would just be some blundering white man who gets girlbossed all day. Thank FUCK they didn't do that.

and the sarajevo 6 missions which were originally playstation pre-order exclusive for hitman 1, are lazy dogshit and not worth buying.
i liked how the colorado map for that had the target actively hunting you down so you couldnt just stay in one place while doing something or waiting for something

(Sorry guys, I don't like the Craig era)
People keep saying this but it needs to be qualified. Craig's Casino Royale is the best bond movie. He's a good bond it's just the ip holders put him in bad movies. Even then, the first 3 are mostly good and the last 2 are god awful. That's still over half his movies, and it's not his fault.
Casino Royale hits high highs consistently while also still nailing the subtlety of its calmer moments, and is paced amazingly well. It's genuinely a perfect movie and one that should be studied for making good action thrillers.

That's fair but those missions are pretty buggy and I feel like most of them are glorified contracts.

I should clarify, I don't like the Craig era as James Bond movies, I do not mean to put across they're bad movies or bad action movies, I find them to be great action movies but I find it hard to call them 'James Bond' in my head, because for me I watched James Bond for the zany villains, the cool gadgets, the cars and the overall tone which I feel the Craig era didn't have in them as the Craig era was more grounded and 'realistic', again that's fine in of itself but for me, it's not what I tune into a James Bond property for.

Yea I wish they dabbled in that a bit, cause they did get silly again but not in unique ways. Spectre could've reintroduced a character like baron samedi or scaramanga.

It's why I appreciated this game for going into the silliness but still remaining relatively grounded, I especially liked that they did the thing of having two classic bond archetypes for the antagonists, Webb Snr is the "cunning and plotting" type who has a train of logic you can follow and reason with even if it's an evil scheme, while Webb Jr is the "Crazy psychopath" type who is cartoonish and larger than life.

I am hoping with the cliffhanger it leads to a range of games which will be a revival for the 007 franchise which will return it to form.

lmao @ CR being a perfect movie.

But the Craig era is actually two eras: Reboot Bond (CR and Quantum) where he was new and aggressive and everything was stripped down (no gadgets, Moneypenny, Q); and then the Rainbow era which soft rebooted him into a weepy old bisexual man with lame gadgets, a homosexual Q, black Moneypenny, and movies that went on forever. Not surprisingly, most fans of the latter movies love First Light.

He mostly talks about First Light at the beginning (jump to 3:00); rest of the video is him bitching about random people not being properly based enough.

the last good bond movie was goldeneye and i liked first light. now what, fag
Die another day has the sword fight, the cool part where he uses an ejector seat to flip his car upright and the lightning suit for a cool final boss fight.

Also Casino Royale is the best bond movie.
Sorry but Skyfall does not fit im with the later 2, spectre and nttd are so entirely awful that you can feel it in every scene. They're poorly written, they're not shot well, they have lifeless characters and they try to lean on the previous 3 as if it was all planned to culiminate into something bigger. They feel hollow, soulless, every second of them is an empty husk.
Bland lighting, unaware characters, nothing of value being said.
A boring chase with nothing happening, this is just a car commercial. Nobody had a single creative idea when filming this.

1 movie earlier in skyfall we had interesting cinematography, cool visuals of silhouettes contrasted partially against neon signs giving us glimpses of a fight scene, taking advantage of stuntmen to make a better fight and also making it semi-vague who's winning to up the tension:
They're worlds apart in quality, there's a very hard line after skyfall where the quality goes off a cliff.

Craig only did two good bond films.
Skyfall and Casino Royale.
Rest are meh at best or dogshit (No time to die is garbarge)
Brosnan had three kino films and a shit one ( I can't defend DaD)
