I feel like all the bad combinations come from the US, in part of the many vegans gaslighting others that it taste like the "real thing."
Most of the dishes outside of the US can be pretty good though. I especially like Muhammara, a Lebanese dish made of bread crumbs, walnuts and roasted red peppers. It's a surprisingly creamy dip that's decadently good on pita or tortilla, but I could see it working well on roasted chicken.
