i seriously doubt it was reddit troons, from a technical point of view the reason the images were replaced with such a primitive image and video was because of file size, the hackers who figured out that ifunny's buckets were public had to overwrite every file with their image/video, which if you think about it you would want to save as much bandwidth as possible when doing that, since you're probably replacing a billion files and you don't want to wait for terabytes of data to upload, so obviously the replacement image/video is very compressed and simple enough so that doing this would be fast enough and cause as much damage as possible so i imagine it was just some pissed off skid or someone who's really really fed up with the jeet moderation

No luck in finding a source myself. Some ifunniers say they dont care if its true or not as a war with them would be funny. Hopefully someone as powerful as lfj doesnt get involved if this goes full force.

Say what you will but the old owners wouldve had the servers shut off within hours of this starting. The fact that it’s still going on over a day after it was brought to their attention is fucking crazy.

I get that this furthers their goals of torching the history of the app, but literally what is the point if potential users on other platforms are watching the app spectacularly burst into flames (and the owners pretend it didnt) every couple of months?
The app needs to just die already so we can just get to the part where we’re glad that it ever happened and move on.
 
The torching of rocket chainsaw fills me with such a gut-wrenching dread, like so much of what I love from my formative years can just be removed at the whims of some no name that we'll just assume is a tranny because its funny. With the loss of so many oldhaeds, niglists, historic posts I feel the prophesized culture death of Funcorp's lobotomite social gathering app is coming sooner rather than later

This was where I cut my teeth on being a shitlord. I don't care if it's troons, jeets, or trooned out jeets, it hurts seeing iFunny in its current state. Maybe Lord Miles will actually go through with buying it and we can go back to the glory days of rates and being a fed honeypot.

Anyways, I managed to save a few of my favorite heritage posts before they were lost to time. The day drop reverse yuh is gone is the day all is lost.

In addition to this there is another site called MemeBurger that another OG is working on, although all news about it kind of went dead after they released like 3 single-use invite codes a month ago.

That being said it sucks that all of these solutions either have to feel annoying to use because theyre in a web browser, or they have to barnacle onto some other social media service because it’s expensive to host an image server and keep the app on the iOS appstore.
I miss pre-subscription ifunny so fucking much. Something like that could never exist today.
