No, they're overpopulated now because their living standards are low and life expectancy for offspring is also low, so those people will have as many kids as possible to even their odds at statistical roulette. Not to mention sexual assault goes up and contraception goes down the shittier your country is. The less shitty the living standards are, the more people will invest in a single kid instead of struggling to keep dozens alive until adulthood.
 
I'd go all out on some master race level shit.

Tall, high metabolism, longevity, intelligence, disease resistance, physical symmetry/concepts of beauty. Sure it could go wrong but it goes wrong plenty of times in the womb anyway so why not?

People spend enough cash on private tutors for their spawn, I'd just be giving them a head head start on college entry.

Assuming we can't turn our kids into the High Evolutionary, and that there's trade-offs to the point where you can only tweak a few things, I'd pick all the usual stuff- no deformities, good immune system, all the usual stuff. The only potentially unusual change I'd make is ensuring (if it's possible) that they didn't catch the ghey.
I'm dead serious, going through that horrible teenage/young adult period with the knowledge of being different and having it fuck with how you relate with everyone around you isn't something I'd wish on anyone.

I would make nine kids, I don't care if male or female but all of them will be bald, 4' tall and make sure they all have tremors, shit will be hilarious, like a mini circus everyday.
 
I'd get rid of the heart disease/ diabetes genes. In my family you're pretty guaranteed some kind of heart problem and or diabetes by age 45-50 even if you did everything right.
 
I would focus more on replacing harmful alleles (including precancerous combinations of alleles) with harmless ones. Removing harmful things is almost universally superior to adding beneficial things, because we rarely understand the second, third, and nth order effects of introducing new things.

I would rather be disease free and completely average than a super human with all sorts of new diseases.
 
One of my best friends growing up at That Gene. The one that lets some people live a completely sedentary lifestyle, yet eat a diet of 2 liters of Mt. Dew, bags of junk food, and fast food and never gain an ounce of weight from it.

I don't know what gene that is, but all my offspring would have it.

More mundanely, but probably more importantly, there's a cancer that my bloodline has a genetic risk of that I'd prefer to get rid of, if possible.
