Idol Jihen was one of the most boring idol shows I've seen. Like it's not out of the ordinary to use idols for campaigning for the Diet, but there was just nothing of interest or anything to root for. Not even the appearance of GOAT Prime Minister Junichirou Koizumi went anywhere to make it worthwhile. I imagine even the Japanese target audience thought it was stupid/poorly-realized because it ended up dying as a potential franchise. Or maybe even the Japanese don't like having politics inserted into their idol anime.

Wake Up, Girls! had potential, but ended up being a wet fart and a complete waste of time. Probably says something when their fucking spin-off series was of them dressed as zoo animals and it wasn't even funny.

I actually completely forgot there was another series back in 2017, I just lost interest after those anti-climatic movies.

You know your idol anime is fucked when the mobile game doesn’t even run a year

My big gripe with idol anime is that once they "make it big" there isn't really much reason for staying. Maybe some people will like the character drama, but the most fun stuff is the idols starting in some rundown office and slowly making it big through doing small gigs. That's where Zombieland Saga was smart and just reset the status quo in the second season.

Zombieland was absolutely genius. I still have yet to finish watching the second season but the first season handled things so well

I stumbled across The Idolm@ster and liked it. You get to know about the girls and their struggles in the industry. It really didn't get much fanfare here other than being shown on Crunchyroll alongside its spinoffs. I need to give Love Live! a chance. All I know about it is Nico Yazawa, the "it's joke" girl and the chuuni.

I only followed a idol girl in my entire lifetime and that's because i need to play that between a entire game.
Right Haruka Sawamura from Yakuza franchise?
