Click on all the crosswalks. Okay. Click on all the traffic lights. Okay. Click on all the streetlights. Okay.
Something went wrong, please retry.
This will continue until I slowly, painstakingly, click those same boxes, one at a time, with a full second in between each click.
How slow is the average captcha solver to click these stupid fucking boxes that not doing it like a geriatric marks me as a fucking robot? Aren't you supposed to be tracking my natural mouse movements or something?
Discuss.

The worst is the one with really bizarre, weird shapes like kitchen utensils or spaceships or science fiction related shapes, just really detailed little things & the captcha will rotate these random shapes, & you have to play a match game with fitting these square pegs into round holes, about 10 different shapes at a time, before the stupid thing will let you proceed.

I get the I guess you're a fucking bot page for any Google search every 15 minutes or so, without VPN. No crosswalk/motorcycle picking but it delays it by like 10 seconds. Makes sticking to Brave Search much easier.

Archive.today is almost unusable on VPN. It used recaptcha but I think it doesn't initiate at all anymore, don't remember.

So here's the thing. You don't like these captchas now, but it's definitely the prelude to something worse when they stop being able to prevent any bots. Probably some kind of Internet ID or mandatory 2FA. This crap is just the warmup, we are fucked.

The worst ones are the ones that want you to pick all the boxes from a complete picture that have a certain thing in them.

Like, cool, click all the boxes where there's a bike, seems simple enough. But there's one box with like an inch of the handlebar in it, do I click that or not? Doesn't matter, because it's apparently wrong either way.

Click on the crosswalks.

*click the finish button*
Please try again.
Click on the motorcycles.

I just play the audio version, a lot easier and faster than clicking on endless squares -- the second option will also randomly fail even if you get it right, something that doesn't happen with the audio check. And usually you only need to write well one of the 2-3 words they say.
*try audio mode*
We think you are trying to use automated tools to access this site. Please try again later.

I kinda miss ReCaptcha nowadays, at least you actually get to prove you're a human. It's a lot better than Cloudflare's bullshit security check that just decides on its own whether you're human or not. I remember using a phone with Lineage OS (Android ROM) and some weird Chromium fork, CF would always fuck me over.

Does a square count as having a bike in it if its just a part of the handle bar?

Is that blurry splotch a bus?

Is that swiggly thing a y or a g?

captchas are getting so hard computers are becoming better at them again.

The captchas on Tor are unnecessarily hard so I usually click the button to do an audio captcha (which is WAY EASIER) and then it says "your computer may be sending automated queries!!!! to protect our users we've blocked you blah blah blah kill yourself". Like, you're owned by Google, recaptcha. Let me fucking do it on Tor.

It's a deliberate humiliation ritual, especially if they decide you're a Bad User and give you the ringer. If they classify your address/fingerprint/whatever as suspicious, they elevate response and deliberately make you take the captcha multiple times, in addition to slowing the shit out of it every time. The more suspicious, the more times you have to humiliate yourself and waste your own time. Because a bot and image recognition couldn't do it in an equal amount of time, except parallelized and automated. It's pure humiliation with AI dataset training as purpose.
By the way, with the Google fade-out captcha type, I deliberately fuck up the trained data by clicking on squares that I know are its "training" set. They separate all images into "control" and "training" sets and apply generic filters/shaders on both to make sussing them out difficult, but if you get a continuous line of 3 or more that's just buses in the same square, it's 100% guaranteed to end with a "training" image that won't have a bus. I click that. It accepts.
Fuck Google.

Oh, and CloudFlare needs blunt corporate restructuring as well. They, too, will decide that your IP+Agent combination is an uncomfortable person and will not be allowed to use the internet. If you think being disallowed to use the entire payment processor ecosystem is bad, wait until you aren't allowed to browse the fucking internet at all because 90%+ of all websites use fucking CloudNiggers and they don't like you driving down their Projects.

On Tor, sometimes on sites I just get a CloudFlare screen saying that I'm blocked, or that the owner of the website has blocked users in my country (TOR) from using it.
Quite a shame that sites just ban Tor users for no reason

Recaptchas make dialup feel fast. Fuck whomever came up with that idea.
Creator was the same guy behind Duolingo.

The response doesn't mention that recaptchas also train for visual ID etc.
