People have dismissed this analysis as an 'excuse'. It isn't an excuse, it's an explanation. And one of the contributing factors to Amber never having moved into the right mindset to tackle her issues is her intelligence. There's not enough info to guess what this will cost her. If it's just low grade abnormal cells on her cervix then that's a relatively simple day procedure. If it's multiple endometrial lesions, that's more complex. We don't know either the specific location or the type of cancer, and it's impossible to guess what treatment will involve. The higher the grade and stage, the more expensive it will be.

Stage 3 isn't a complete death sentence, though, As I mentioned my mother had stage 3 breast cancer and managed to turn it around.

My grandmother had cervical cancer and she died within 2 weeks of diagnosed. Doctors thought judging by symptoms she'd had it over 15 years (!) but she hadn't sought treatment because she was a paranoid schizophrenic who didn't trust doctors. You can last a long time with reproductive cancer. My grandmother was in her eighties when she died, and it was a fucking awful death. Amber is young and even if it's somewhat advanced she has a pretty decent chance at surviving this, even if it's more serious than polyps.

I don't much follow Amber but I've vaguely followed this thread. I think in her case her weight actually puts her at a very high risk of dying on the table if she needs any kind of intense surgery. There's a reason a lot of medical procedures have the doctor telling an overweight patient to lose weight before they'll do it.

Just imagine how much fat they'd have to cut through. Gag. Unless they have a way to yank her uterus out her vagina.

Just got caught up on this (because there are other things going on in the world that have taken my attention, lol). I did not expect for her demise to be cancer before hitting 30. Sleep apnea, diabetic shock, heart attack, etc ... Those are what I expected.

I would say that 2020 takes no prisoners, but no; this shit was entirely self-inflicted due to her gluttony. 2020 isn't allowed to take credit for this one. I don't feel sorry for her because she's such a wretched person ... But I do hope that her existence serves as a huge fucking wake-up call for those who need to lose weight. I myself lost a significant amount of weight in my early 20s (as I was overweight in my teen years) ... Due to the ACA, you cannot be denied coverage due to a preexisting condition. If you sign up for a health insurance policy, they will ask for your age, sex and whether or not you are a smoker. They can't ask if you've had cancer or are HIV+ or anything else. To mitigate the possibility of people just not buying insurance until they get a serious illness, the law only allows you to buy health insurance once a year ("open enrollment") in December for coverage to start after the new year, with some exceptions*.

1. Insurance policies that are not ACA-compliant and are intended to be purchased on a very short-term basis (usually only a few months). The point of these is if there is a gap between when your legit insurance policy ended and your new one starts (such as due to changing jobs); the short-term policy is basically very limited coverage in case you get into a bad car accident or something. None of these policies would cover any of her cancer treatments.
2. There is an option for enrollment during the year on Healthcare.gov but from what I'm reading on there, you need to already have insurance and be enrolling in a new/different plan, not getting insurance for the first time that year.

AL's problem is that she (1) is not eligible for Medicaid because she makes/made too much money in preceding years, and (2) did not sign up for health insurance during the open enrollment period last December like people were telling her to.

Basically, AL is going to be financially fucked. The soonest she can get health insurance will be January 1st, 2021. She's on the hook for anything before that.

One thing she absolutely should not do right now is marry Becky. I really don't understand the general reaction-- both on the farms and ~*haydur nation*~ on YouTube-- to ALR's diagnosis. I've read every page of this thread if only because I wanted to see how everyone would respond. I've also seen several reaction channels on YT say that they will no longer be reacting to ALR because, evidently, her cancer diagnosis makes her immune to criticism.

I certainly wasn't hoping for ALR to die, and I don't make it a point to wish death upon anyone, regardless of how awful they are. But... am I wrong in saying that we, essentially, were laughing and rolling our eyes at her eating herself to death? Having cancer is just as much of a death sentence as weighing 600lbs is, no? If we didn't pity her for being a fatass, why should we pity her for having cancer that was almost certainly self-inflicted? She had the time and the financial means to go to the doctor; she demonstrated some level of self awareness in her videos, frequently stating that she knew she had to see relevant medical professionals; and she also said, ad nauseam, that she was at risk for so many health issues. Despite all of this, she did absolutely nothing.

Now, I understand that I might be in the minority here, but I do concede that ALR clearly has an eating disorder. I refuse to believe that any sane fucking person would eat themselves to such a grotesque and inhuman size. But if you have an ED, then go to the fucking doctor to address both that and the consequences of your ED. ALR and her loved ones were clearly aware of the medical inevitabilities, but she also had literal thousands of people on the internet all but begging her to go to the fucking doctor.

Now she faces the consequences of her actions and she's getting ass-pats? Come the fuck on. If she had made a legitimate effort to do anything about her health one time in her life, maybe I would feel pity, but alas, here we are. This was avoidable. This was preventable. I won't PL, but trust me: at her size, she should have been getting endometrial biopsies every 2-ish years, and if possible, transvaginal ultrasounds. At the very least she should have been going to the gyno. She's hopeless. I don't want her to die, but I don't feel particularly sorry for her.

I am welcome to anyone suggesting that I should offer her more kindness-- I just genuinely don't understand.

Amber was showing symptoms of such issues over a year ago when telling a few people that she had bled for 3+ months. That was roughly 11 months ago. Know how many women would have loved to have such obvious symptoms? Many cases don’t even show any. Her body tried to warn her in every way it could, and she chose to ignore it.
