Reminder that just because you’re not in the direct path of the storm, that you won’t get bad conditions.

I personally wouldn’t be risking staying in the pan handle or the southern tip of FL either.

Welp, if you have food then these are the next things you need to do tomorrow. Bleach your bathtub right now. Get that thing so clean the Virgin Mary herself may deign to bathe in it. Then rinse it down (so all the chemicals are washed away) and then fill it to the tippy top with fresh water. That is what you will be drinking.

Next, obtain large plastic containers. If you can score some brand new rolling trash bins, even better. Set them outside and secure them tightly to the ground with rope and stakes so they don't blow away. Use them to catch the rain water. This water you will use to run your toilet. After every flush replace the toilet tank water with water from these containers.

Doing those two things is quite literally half the battle if you already have food on hand.

Also remember if Category 4 or 5 winds hit where you live this advice is meaningless. Your containers will blow away. Along with your roof.

Do you have enough water stocked up? I’ve never been in a full blown disaster zone but I’ve been in a situation with no power for days, completely cut off and unable to get out of the house. Was cozy for us because we had plenty of food, water and heat, with no chance of anyone bothering us, but especially in an urban zone, where you don’t have any control over your utilities I’d have food, water, fuel, and guns.

My biggest worry is that Null won’t get out of his Mom’s basement in time.

If you can’t leave, have a plan for enduring the storm. Where to go after. Do you have enough water? Food? Battery bank to charge your cellphone? Clothes for the week? Underwear and socks?

If you can leave, leave. Lock up the house, get your guns, and go inland and somewhere high if you can’t go far.

I agree too. But this does depend on the windshear from the jet stream. That northeast jet stream current cannot move for the next two days. If it starts straying to the North, shit is going to be fucked.

Even if it doesn't land as a Cat 5, it won't matter. The storm surge will still be at the level of a Cat 5. Katrina did exactly the same thing, it weakened on approach to a Cat 3 and still absolutely hammered the coast with storm surges of 12-28(!) feet.
 
My family in Florida aren‘t evacuating. Dad is near Naples and said he just helped put on shutters for his neighbors (they’re all elderly). He proceeded to go on a rant about government weather control and that climate change is engineered by the government so we surrender to trans humanism and digital ID. 🤔. How screwed are the areas south of Tampa?
