Frankly can't be much worse than whoever was the tech designer before, this entire game engine vibe coded and held together with bubblegum and prayers.
So, they're adding a gatling gun with the upcoming event.
Maxim Gun, it'll be a world weapon like shovels so you can't extract with it or swap weapons while carrying it, otherwise it drops to the ground. I think it'll be an interesting meme weapon if incredibly annoying to get jumped with at close range.

Unrelated to that: I will give Crytek a lot of credit for their battle pass system being super easy to catch up and finish. I haven't played the game since December, decided to hop on after the trailer dropped a week ago and I've already finished the current BP from lvl 1 by just playing Clash and planning my loadouts around completing challenges for a couple hours each day. The fact your teammates actions also progress your challenges means a good number of the stuff I had to do got completed by my random Clash teammates just existing.

From what they said is that it will also overheat if fired rapidly, so players wont be able to spam it.

I watched a video by PsychoGhost where he uses it on a boss, it both seems to overheat fast and it doesn't seem like it carries a lot of ammo. He smoked a boss with it and while it died very quickly, it also ate almost 1/3 of the weapons total ammo in just a few seconds. It's also going to be firing Incendiary bullets, so it gets no penetration and can't be used to spray a building from the outside for a kill. It seems Crytek is playing it incredibly safe with the Maxim, as they should be.
 
It's a really cool game, although sometimes it's so intense I'm still tense while going to bed. The slot revision is a good idea, it's obvious money cannot balance guns. The only way you can make dolch and modern rifles have a drawback is by making them bigger. The change in item slots won't change too much. You still need a melee weapon, a first aid kit, something to burn bodies, and chokes to put out your buddies. You can make a few minor adjustments, like only having one guy on your team carry a flare pistol, or using a bayonet and brawler pistol to replace your melee weapon. But that's about it. Most of the time your toolslots are spoken for. I guess it let's you put traps into your former consumable slots.
Not sure how i feel about the special modern long ammo. Making it it's own ammo type is fine, but also making it special ammo only is rough. I would be okay with it being a 4th ammo type, along compact/medium/long.

I think a lot of the upcoming changes are trying to get Hunt back to slower more drawn out gun battles where every bullet counts, and making space for the rarely seen deployable boxes to get more use. Lots of guns are getting their ammo pools reduced, some carried traps are getting reduced, toolboxes wont resupply consumables anymore, etc. I'm looking forward to the next patch more than any update in years. The only part of the new changes I really don't like is all Explosive ammo being made scarce, just because the ammo is spammable bullshit when used in the Uppercut w/ Fanning and Mako w/ Levering (two guns that frankly should never have gotten access to explosive ammo, because they can spam it.). I actually liked using Explosive ammo for its intended purpose, destroying doors/windows to create openings, check for traps, and destroy wire. I will miss my tactical breacher loadouts.

For the Modern Special Ammo, we'll have to see how it works out but I think it fits alongside the other upcoming changes. Krag/Lebel/Mosin are getting their ammo more difficult to resupply in the world will necessitate players to carry more ammo boxes when running those weapons, which means less possible frags or other consumables/tools. Probably trying to make bringing the best weapons in the game mean sacrificing other parts of your loadout to support them. Unlike now where bringing a Mosin just means you've got best in slot for all but the most extreme short and long range shootouts.

Ammo was already plenty tight on long ammo guns. You had around 15 bullets, and only got 2 per resupply. I already had to hit two caravans plenty of times to supply after a long fight. I guess now a starting compound fight will end up with you just running to the exit. Because the only other option is running to 3 different supply points to get 6 bullets back.
This amount of ammo gives you even less reason to peek as a team sitting in the compound, you don't want to spend any bullets you might need for running to the extraction. Wallbanging is even more worthless as well, with the damage nerf it already was a borderline waste, but now bullets are even more scarce, I wouldn't waste my ammo on it any more. Same with going for a grand slam.

The problem was ammo pooling, with the new ammo type that is no longer an issue. This double nerf smells of classic crytek retardation. Like when they made the knife more expensive and the knuckleknife less expensive, because the regular knife was used by 90% of the players. Even though everyone with a brain could tell you the knuckleknife was better, people were just more used to the regular knife.
