Humor is too tied to right wing and left wing team bullshit and there's not enough to laugh at that unites people and brings them together. In the 90's Homer Simpson and Mister Burns was a microcosm of the struggle between working class and elites, and both were ridiculous idiot caricatures. The last time the Simpsons was funny was before the World Trade Center was destroyed, and for a little while South Park was able to make humor that hit equally on both sides of the spectrum to be funny to a wide cross section of viewers. In the past year you either laughed at the idiots who died of COVID or you laughed at the dumbasses who took dick shrinking vaccines. It's all about humiliating the other side now as a way to feel superior and overcome massive insecurity in a harsh world. The rich are terrified of the hellscape the world is and dream of a future far away in space or Mars, while the working class are desperate to not miss a day of work or they'll be sleeping in WalMart parking lots for the rest of their life. We are all going to die and we're terrified, that's why the only unifying humor left is the 'This is fine" dog.

I never understood why people think that deep fried memes are so funny. Eric Andre truly did ruin humor. Even though the first few seasons were good, all of the imitators are awful.
