I remember following Equestrian Lord during my salad days. They were actually pretty good, from what I recall, but they split up really closely after they released their album which was really annoying. I guess it has something to do with Bronies and work-ethic.
 
Maybe revealing my :powerlevel: a bit, but I got banned from M-A because I criticized the idea of white privilege in some political thread, haha

They've been banning open Trump supporters too.

Lyrics about drinking babies' blood and decapitating Christians are fine, but leaning slightly right-of-center? That's just irredeemable.
 
Metal today is gay, it's devolved from just a style of music into just another identity politics cult for retarded individuals; today you'll probably find more SJWs and feminists who identify as 'metalheads' than you will any actual "badasses" despite the genre having basically evolved around a "badass, outlaw" theme.

I think it was probably after the grunge and "alt-rock/nu-metal" genres going mainstream that metal jumped the shark, and became a genre for whiny wrist-slitting Tumblerinas.

Wonder how metalheads are able to reconcile their fandom with the fact that Slayer, one of the 'founding fathers' of 'extreme metal' genres made songs about Nazi human experimentation, and were actually suspected of being sympathetic to Nazism?

To me being a SJW and a metalhead at the same time makes about as much sense as being a White Supremacist who's a fan of Tupac; not to mention that metal as a whole genre is disproportionately white and male compared to nearly any other genre of music out there.
 
All the good metal bands today write about the occult. Thrash was political in its time but that shit does not age well. Stagnation and copy cats are another problem the genre has. It's okay to love a band and be inspired into music by them but every Swedish band trying to be Dissection and At the Gates is what killed their scene. Greece and Iceland is where it's at today.

Exposing power level a bit but last time I saw them, a girl I know tried to force the whole band (even the vegetarian members) to eat the meat she had grilled up on the BBQ.
It didn't go well.
She was eventually escorted out.

Taste in music shouldn't be tied to ideology, though some spergs seem to have this thing that they have to identify with what music they listen to which I can chalk up to not maturing mentally beyond adolescence.

I think what Gorguts did with Colored Sands a few years back handled a political/potentially touchy event in a very mature way which fit death metal songwriting well. The album is a retelling of and commentary on the events of the invasion of Tibet by China.

"Fuck you dad" never ages well though.

I'm pretty damn involved in the metal scene and I have only come across one sjw "metal head."
She made a hilarious article about how a gorey black metal band grabbed tits and bled on the crowd, since the black metal scene was her "safe space."

Unfortunately it was a famous band known for...well, tittie grabbing and blood so she got laughed right out
