I can't imagine how the 2008 version of the forum would have reacted to someone saying "one of my friends announced that she's a tranny lite and now I need to be a tranny and smear makeup on my face, too!", but it definitely would not have been "I've been there, right now I'm in the process of getting my dick chopped off."

DMU is the only site I still check to find out about new albums, even thought I might disagree with their opinions sometimes. The comments section is usually pretty funny, too, and a better source of news than "mainstream" sites like Metalsucks, which maintain informal blacklists and have probably done more damage to extreme metal than any Christian activist group in the last 20 years. None are worth visiting unless you want to read about how brave the Zeal & Ardor guy is for showing his face in public when 99% of metalheads are neo-Nazis, or how Panopticon has advanced Queer rights by putting out an album where all the lyrics are tips for giving better blowjobs.

While I respect what DMU is doing, Brett Stevens writing is pretentious as fuck. Holy shit, not every Brazilian bestial war metal album is a deep statement on society and hobbies. Just tell me if the album is good.
...that being said the comments are actually pretty funny.
You guys made me check out DMU again, I stopped paying attention to it several years ago when Brett had a stick up his ass about "useless comments" and refused to approve shitposts. Now I've checked out some comment sections on their recent album reviews I see that the amount of shitposting and /pol/-tier shitflinging is back to the usual levels, so it looks like I'll be coming back to the site more often.

Wasn't Brett the guy who said that he keeps a copy of Morbid Visions in every room of his house because he doesn't like to be away from it for too long? The man is a treasure.
This guy being quoted is right though, I recall a quite lengthy thread where the archives' forum goers argued for canceling Slayer for Angel of Death. Most of the posters supported it which is utterly pathetic. Modern metalheads are such fucking pussies.
A month or so ago I made a somewhat schizo theory that M-A are now deleting old positive reviews of wrongthink albums. That time it was three overly positive reviews for a Goatmoon album being deleted leaving only the one positive-but-far-less review. That seems suspect, but still had room for plausible deniability. This goes beyond that and makes it completely clear that they are now just blanketly removing positive reviews of bands they hate.
Recently I went onto the main page for Arghoslent, I immediately noticed two things. Firstly, their most well-known album, Incorrigible Bigotry, is now sitting at a 54% average (down from 59% that I pointed out in the original post, and like then there are no new reviews which means they yet again deleted another old positive review). That's nothing new, but what I did notice is that their final album, Hornets of the Pogrom, has suddenly gone from an 87% average from 15 reviews to a ridiculous 70% from 8, with a brand new goose egg from some dumb faggot. They literally deleted over half of the album's reviews at the same time - and naturally all of them were positive, with none of the negative reviews removed.
while proofreading this post I realized I unintentionally screencapped the Arsenal of Glory comp following the trend by having a positive review deleted to bring its score down from 73% to 50%
So there you have it. Irrefutable proof that they're removing decades-old positive reviews to artificially lower these bands' ratings. Just like I mentioned in my original post, I couldn't find any mention of this on their forum. Most likely their mod team is organizing this in a private forum or offsite, which only shows that they know what they're doing is underhanded and wrong and they don't care.
@Idiot Asshole it could be also that the writers of the reviews are cleaning their acts up smelling another purge in the air. I know for a fact that droneriot's favorable reviews of the Absurd catalogue went poof some years ago just because of that.
The archives has reacted surprisingly sensibly to the new Inquisition LP. There's still some moralfag pearl clutching, but not as much as I'd have expected.

Why would there be moralfagging? Dagon's just some CSAM-enjoying heckin valid Latinx now, the statute of limitations is long past on 88MM and "14 Showerheads 1 Gas Tight Door"

Somehow I keep forgetting he's Columbian. In this case I guess the quality of his riffs overwhelms the modern metal fans natural moral posturing incentive.
Inquisition's trials and tribulations are heartening to me because it shows that these people cannot fully take the scene over, no matter how hard the journos at Metalsucks try.
