I don't have the post in front of me, but Null did a breakdown. It's basically:

  • $3k to taxes
  • $3k to run the reverse-proxy setup, Kiwiflare/Tartarus, the main hosting box, and I think CDN servers. Plus a normal amount of gear replacement. KF has been forced to roll its own network infrastructure, and that gets expensive.
  • Around $2k/month for litigation expenses. I'm not sure if this is officially included in the $12k/month number, Null cited it as $25k/year average, as it was being paid from the IOLTA from 3 years ago.
  • Some amount of saving for future emergencies, because there's always some stupid tranny attack happening
  • The rest goes to Null for living expenses.

$12k isn't the current forum cost, it's the "minimum needed to be sustainable over the long run", plus tax. It's what is needed to transition from Josh being an international hobo maxing out credit cards to keep one box running, to being a properly run business with future plans.

He wants to makes the farms his business so it need to make enough money to support not just his site but himself. He wants to make a job of the farms.

He needs to show us when he clocks in and out on his coding if he wants this to be his job.

Does that make us his boss?
