502 errors are caused by KF servers being overloaded and not able to respond to your requests some or all of the time. VPN and geographical origin have no impact on this, but the site does get flood attacks now and then that cause server overloading. Days since last flood attack: 0

That explains it. Because sometimes the VPN would "work" and other times it wouldn't, so maybe it just got crashed by the Mueller thread or something. I remember Null saying that ISPs would give fake errors to block the site.

China, North Korea, and anything related to the Middle East doesn't count.

I am not in China, I only have a supposedly China based VPN to test with*, but KiwiFarms would appear to be missing from the 'I AM NOT ALLOW' list of glorious People's Republic of China.

Makes sense. I mean, China isn't NZ, Australia, UK- it's a free country.

* some VPNs just buy very small netblocks within a range that belongs to an ISP in a country they want to pretend to be present in and get them routed to their servers in another country (until GeoIP services catch up), but I believe this one is authentic- badsites like Google are blocked (as they should be)
