I've had an account here for a little over four years, and lurked for some time before that. I still think of myself as new, but the sites already gone through so much since I've been here. I think its fair to say that the "Golden Age" happened way before I joined the site, and I think that's the deciding factor. I've used 4chan (very rarely nowadays) for about a decade at this point, but I also wouldn't consider myself an oldfag there because its heyday had long gone by the time I started posting. I guess a simpler view is anyone older than you is an oldfag, anyone newer than you is a newfag. Thanks for engaging with my sperging.

Nuinternetgabbagoobas don't remember that there werent big sites where people congregated (outside of maybe usenet), but internet was a patchwork of little websites, everyone had their own. It's mindbending to remember how much internet has shrunk, now everyone just uses the same three sites. In 1993 there was like one or two news websites, and even them in English, if you're an europoor you were out of luck. Finnish news sites opened in like 2000. OG Internet was wild west, even the biggest internet providers didn't give a single solitary fuck about hosting the most extreme racist shit, several Finnish nazi parties had their websites hosted as subdomains of Elisa and existed there well into the 2000s.

But in a sense we are living second Eternal summer of newfaggotry as Indians and Africans are starting to use internet en masse. RIP internet.
