How has Subway survived this long?

I actually like their vegi-max patty. I'm not even remotely a vegetarian, it just... actually tastes good.

It's alright. I feel like you don't get that much for what you pay for though.

Jimmy John's is run by a shithead poacher, but the price you pay for that much meat is nuts. Like they def know how to load it on to make the most out of it.

Can't speak for West Coast places if they offer better deals but if you compare Subway to JJ (or Quinzo's RIP) they get blown out of the water.

I went into a subway and all the employees were that vague kind of brown where you're not sure if they're a street shitter or Jihadi.
They all had these stupid tie-dye subway shirts on and as much as I can't stand these fuckheads I felt a tiny bit of pity for them.
Then one of them screamed at me because they thought I was getting a refill and I got over it.

I went outside for a smoke and backed my ass up right to the window, Jay and Silent bob style, I was all sweaty from work and left a greasy me-shaped stain on it.
And the falafel was drier than a mummy's snootch.

Fun Fact: There is a Subway at the Pentagon that's open 24/7. Major coolness factor, right there.

Also, their subs are delicious. I especially like the Spicy Italian one.

Isn’t it inexpensive to open a Subway? It’s like 250k compared to the 2 million you need to open a McDoanld’s. I’m guessing that’s why so many are popping up.
Yeah, that's about right. Subways are very cheap and easy to open, and you get everything you need to run one down to the soap they use to mop the floors. All the food arrives frozen. Anyone who's competent enough not to stab themselves with a knife is smart enough to work there.

Hell, even their own Own a Franchise page is oddly jovial.

I used to enjoy a few specific sandwiches and soups from Subway, but the quality has gone down pretty harshly over the past decade. The 'grilled chicken' and 'steak' used to be okay, but now they're just god awful. Their broccoli-cheese soup tastes, smells and feels like it contains melted plastic and glue these days, and they never seem to serve creamy wild rice or potato chowder anywhere anymore.

Outdated custom sandwich that used to be amazing:
Order a sweet onion chicken teriyaki. Ask for double meat after they add the normal amount of chicken, but say you want 'steak' as the other meat. (This prevents them from skimping and from overcharging, but you may have to remind them about the flat-fee for the double meat addon at the register when they basically try to charge you for two sandwiches.) No cheese, extra green bell peppers, onions, lettuce, extra cucumbers and some sweet onion sauce. It used to be the best takeout sandwich ever... now reduced to a horrible $15-ish mess of TVP and wilted vegetables.

Their subs are whatever, but BOGO footlongs they have now are a nice deal. Until only March 18th though.

Well they're cheap and alright. There are other places that make better subs but sometimes, I don't want to pay $10 for a sandwich. But if I were to pay that much, I definitely prefer Togo's or (if you're lucky enough to live by one) Ike's Love and Sandwiches.

The smell of their bread sends me into a wave of vomit. Their meat is barely palatable and they nuke the fucking sandwich like McDonald's in their faux 'oven'.

The sooner the zombie apocolypse takes these places off the planet the sooner I can enjoy subs again.

All hail Jersey Mike's.

There's a 24 hour Subway near my work, which is convenient since I get off at 11. Sure, its overpriced, but it doesn't give me hideous diarrhea like most fast food these days does.

The spicy italian is a classic for me, most of it is nostalgia but I really enjoy them. I also love the chicken bacon ranch, it tastes so unnatural that I question what exactly is in it. Its such a unique taste with the jellied chicken cubes and paper bacon that I will get one every 2 months or so. Subway is definitely bottom of the barrel when it comes to fast food, but sometimes I just want that.

I get the simple cold subs with turkey or ham or cold cuts which have less chance of being gross, and they're really cheap.
