How do I stop burning water?

Doesn't seem to matter if it's in the microwave or on the stove I always keep burning it

I was trying to aim for a medium rare water but it always comes out well done or burnt

Only degenerates want their water medium rare. The only way to have your water is rare, rare as you can get it. Practically raw. You really want to see that water bleed it's water blood when you cut into it.
