We make the choices that determine who we are. You can (if you want) choose to be a kind, considerate, and decent human being--like a real person--even though taking off the mask you've been hiding behind may feel strange at first.
My former brother-in-law, dead now, was gay. Gay or not, he was the little brother I never had. Anyway, he went through a phase after high school where he took gay to eleventy, putting on an act so exaggerated and affected that it veered into the realm of cartoony and cringe.
Friends and family finally held a kind of intervention, where we told him we loved and accepted him but really needed him to knock it off and dial down the faggotry, so he did. It was a phase while he worked out who he was, and he got over and through it.
One of the nicest guys I've ever known. Dude would give you the shirt off his back, his last dollar, the keys to his car if you needed it.
