200mhz Pentium with MMX Technology (tm), a whopping 56k (count 'em) modem, and I thought I was an elite counterculture hacker for using Netscape rather than IE.

I initially used it for accessing edgy joke sites, but then one day 14-year-old me discovered the many joys of internet boobies and my mum's phone bill was never quite the same again.
 
I grew up speaking Gaelic and poor, so I first got online in public school and thus wasn't particularly impressed with the internet for quite a while. Can't even remember anything about the computer other than it ran windows 95. As far as I could be arsed as a kid the "internet" was that thing that teachers had you go on to play weird little flash games while they lectured you about how they didn't have this as a kid. I guess the funniest thing was that until I was about 13 my parents had me convinced YouTube was this bad, nasty website you were not suppoaed to visit.
