How can you tell if someone is actually autistic? - Not including posting on the farms or other autism havens

Aside from liking Sonic, Nintendo, trains, computer sciences, speedrunning, posting on Kiwi Farms/4chan/sharty, etc.. Not their interests, but their traits?

If you post to the farms your autism is terminal but actual diagnosed autism is different. We're just a mighty herd of retards..
 
They will not shut up about a niche interest of theirs no matter how disinterested you act. They can't tell that you don't give a shit, you need to explicitly say it for them to realise.

That goes for many situations where you try your damndest to nonverbally communicate something to them but they just can't see it.

You also have to verbalise things very precisely, as they often struggle with ambiguouity and metaphors/turns of phrase.

Perfect ice breaker to start a conversation knowing if the other person is autistic or not while also letting them know that you are.
 
Probably the best indicator in adults is lack of theory of mind. There's the old Sally-Anne test for example.
People on the spectrum sort of expect everyone to be on the same page, they don't realize that there are informational gaps that we bridge with communication.
You see this a lot with the also characteristic black and white thinking, because they genuinely assume that conclusions they've come to are universal

Very specific but tall (freakishly tall) men with autism (or Aspergers/high functioning types) hold their elbows a certain way, more rotated outwards from their body and stiffly. They have a specific look, definitely some sort of phenotype but not sure what. It's like kids with FAS, you can just tell.
 
Usually autistic people do not shut the fuck up about one subject. If he/ she keeps fucking going off on something, even after the topic has died down, the person is likely autistic.

I find it harder to know with women, for a start.

Aside from wearing ear defenders, ig I usually get an inkling from a flatter affect tone of voice, personal presentation, depth of knowledge on a subject and enthusiasm for it. Interests like trans shit, warhammer, D&D, feminism, politics, certain types of music. Feels like autists gravitate.
But also not really interested in hobbies that take a long time to reap rewards, like gardening, DIY, still-life watercolors, embroidery.

What tells does Musk have, or Seinfeld? The asperger’s guys are in a different zone. There’s a guy at work who knows an insanely complex finance package inside out. Boring but elite, just got to respect it.
 
Autists don't realize that even for normal people socializing takes a lot of effort and practice, so they just embrace having zero communication skills and it's hell to ever talk to them.

Oh there's still plenty of autists in those kinds of endeavors. It's just they mask it better. Low-time preference hobbies generally attract more reflective people in general, and self-reflection combined with analysis is how one overcomes being a social retard. Scratch the surface of them, and you'll find walking encyclopedias of soil types and their interplay with climate zones.

Uh, not that I know anything about that first-hand.
 
I simply ask them how they would feel if they didn't get called a retard that morning.

If they say that would feel good because they are used to being called a retard, it's just 'tism.
If they say, "But I did get called a retard this morning...", you have yourself a genuine tard-tism hybrid.

Autistic is no longer a diagnosis despite what DSM5 says. To be called autistic just means they are not properly socialized, or have crippling social anxiety and retreat into vidya if the going gets tough. Most grow out of it, but all are victims of this insane world.

The wild CWC-clone or “Rain Man” autists are so rare they barely matter. The autists you see with handlers are just some kind of individual birth defect that can’t be classified because of how unique it is, like trying to name every single kind of injury a human body can sustain. Unfortunately, those types can’t really be helped, like a normal injury.
 
If they can play music instrument well, there probably is a sprinkle of that. If it is a guitarist, look for key words such as "tone wood", "pick ups"
