Freshwater fish are milder and taste far less like the ocean. I don't have any specific recommendations as I actually do prefer marine fish.

Stick with white fish and if you want to have the least amount of fish smell you have to get it fresh. If you don't want to prepare the fish, but still want to cook fish at home with zero fish smell than sous vide your fish. You will have to pay for the equipment, but you will not smell any fish as it's in a vacuum. However sous vide is a slow and long process. So marinating your fish over night and baking it in tinfoil can also drastically reduce the smell.

Finally if you have a backyard you can always cook your fish on a grill outside this way your house will not smell and is why many Asians have outdoor kitchens.

i've started cooking as a hobby, and it's been pretty good so far. it's just the only thing I haven't really tried is fish due to my hate for it but I'm willing to try anything once

Puff pastry sheets
Salmon filet - skin off
Cream cheese
Asparagus
Dill
Mint
Lemon
Minced Garlic
Onion powder
Salt and pepper

>Assembly
-Thaw the puff pastry and lay flat on a baking sheet
-Blanch asparagus and cut the tips off
-save the asparagus stalks for assembly
-blend up the asparagus tips and all the other ingredients to make the cream filling
-Assemble the pie with a sheet of pastry on the bottom, filet of salmon on top, cream filling on top of the salmon, asparagus stalks on top of the filling, then another sheet of pastry on top.
-seal the edges of the pastry with butter and a fork to crimp, then cut some steam vents on the top of the pastry.
Brush with butter for optional flaky dark crust on top.

bake at 350 for like 35-45 minutes

Baked in tin foil/baking paper and steamed fish Chinese/Hong Kong style are my favorites. Salt crust as well is pretty good. All involve stuffing it or cooking it with aromatics that gets rid of the "fishy" taste. Get a good sea bass or something like that.

Apart from this and fried fish (oi mate fish 'n chips), I don't like cooked or pan fried fish. Too fishy or overcooked, particularly if I order it in a restaurant - they fuck it up.

Pretty much this for Chinese styled steamed fish - not too difficult, throw away water afterwards. Aromatics there during steaming to get rid of the fishy smell you don't like, and they throw a sauce on it to add to the taste.

Go out camping in the woods near a fishing spot with no food and your fishing gear. Stay until you get REALLY hungry, enough to eat damn near anything. Then catch a fish and eat that motherfucker. This method has worked for me with multiple foods. I used to not be able to even look at eggs without gagging, then I was fucking starving and the only thing to eat was eggs so I ate them bitches and they no longer bother me. This also worked with canned fish and I love deenz and kippers now, cottage cheese, and tomatoes. Necessity is the mother of invention but also the mother of taste because necessity is a loose slut harlot BITCH.
