Houthi Movement & Yemen Conflict

I can't for the life of me figure out why they think it so hard to run convoys of ships through the hot areas with a couple destroyers or frigates as escort? Houthi drones are either small surface craft or flying drones. Both of which could easily be dealt with by any warships main gun/air defense.

Like has the US really forgotten standard operating procedure that's not even a hundred years old?

That, or just going around Africa.

It's not a question of whether or not the navy can do it and more of a question for how badly setting up a convoy disrupts shipping. Ships can't afford to be sitting around at anchor waiting for other ships to convoy up with them. In all honesty it's probably cheaper in the long run to take a houthi drone and fix the damage at port while unloading then it is to spend a week waiting for a convoy to form.

Problem with that is there is massive amounts of traffic even now with the threat of attack. What is one or two extra days as opposed to the several going around Africa?

Your point about convoys makes me wonder if the navy could just string a line of picket ships through the worst areas. The US navy did something similar with destroyers during WW2 to intercept Japanese kamikaze attacks. What's the real difference between then and now?

I guess what I'm trying to get at, is that there seems to be quicker, cheaper, better solutions to the ongoing attacks then outright destroying the Houthis.

It's not worth it. Odds of getting hit is low and even if one of the Houthis bottle rockets hit the damage repair bill will more then likely be cheaper then the cost of waiting for a convoy or going around the cape.

They can't keep the ships stationary, this would make them targets. Also the number of vessels to do what you are suggesting is prohibitive.

Not really. It's a Fast, Cheap and Good problem. You can only pick two of the three.

They're already running short on white men.

Which will mean not only their current level of competence be degraded, but the institutional knowledge is flying out the door. Barbies and dangerhairs already make poor soldiers AT BEST and now add the all old salts fucking off because the United States of Assfucking is no longer worth serving for.

IAF attacked the capital of Yemen, Sanaa and Hodeida, a retaliation after launching a rocket that was intercepted, and parts of it fell near a school in Ramat Efal, central Israel, which damage to cars.

Distance is a huge factor at play here.
Israel had the ability to hit Hez with a lot of (relatively) cheap shit like guided bombs and 155mm artillery. Hitting as far as rebel-held Yemen requires generally air-launched cruise missiles and air-launched ballistic missiles, which Israel has but they are in relatively short supply and much more costly to make than the shit they could hit Hezbollah with.

Also, the Saudis were corrupt and incompetent as fuck, riddled with the usual Arab Army [TM] problems (and final proof that even shiny western gear cant fix arab armies), but a lot of the failed Saudi op had more to do with caving to international pressure to end the blockade/siege campaign than it did any alleged houthi triumph on the battlefield.

Yemeni government is the biggest weakest joke in all this
