Listen, I don't know where to put this, okay? And didn't find a proper horse racing discussion thread that didn't involve Umamusume somehow. If there's a better thread, merge this one with it. Mods, if you see this and want to move it, please do!

Horse racing!

Here in the states it comes as a time honored tradition of gamblers and horse lovers alike, and seems to have massive fanbases elsewhere, like in Japan (where the aformentioned Umamusume allegedly revitalized the industry). While I'm generally not into the whole scene and I'm sure there's people better qualified to start this thread, I found myself watching the Kentucky Derby recently and wondering if people on the Farms actually gave a shit. I'm sure there's people here who do, considering the wide berth of this entire forum, this only serves as a starting point for further discussion. Moreover, I'm making this thread with a general belief that people here know what the hell horse racing is.

I intend for this to be a general discussion- about the betting, about the racing, the jockeys, trainers, horses, and industry around it, and with the belief that it is considered a sport.

To start, I'll begin with what happened at the Kentucky Derby, minutes before the race in 2026.

One of the contenders, Great White, got spooked and flipped his rider off his back, resulting in him scratching from the race. As he left, he seemed to have a limp, but is allegedly just fine.

Following this, Golden Tempo proceeded to take first, with his trainer (according to the marquee) being the first female trainer whose horse took first at the Kentucky Derby. Since then, the twitter account belonging to the horse's trainer has been quite active!

I've never been to a horse race. What's your favourite horse?

EDIT: No, too easy. What is the BEST horse?
