Horrific bodycam video reveals moment beloved dog is shot 4 times by LAPD officer Article | archive

Shocking newly released LAPD bodycam footage shows the moment an officer fatally shot a beloved family dog after the animal charged toward him — a killing that has sparked outrage from neighbors, activists and the heartbroken owners.

The video, released Friday, captures the tense confrontation inside a Canoga Park condo complex just moments after a family had been celebrating the New York Knicks’ NBA championship victory.

The shooting unfolded shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday when Los Angeles police officers responded to the complex after a neighbor reported hearing a woman screaming.

After the footage surfaced, critics blasted the officer’s actions as unnecessary, demanding answers over why the dog was killed. Police released the video amid mounting public backlash and questions about whether the shooting was justified.

In the video – two responding officers are seen being greeted by Jameson – a 2-year-old Saint Berdoodle, who was celebrating with the family before the shooting.

Marseille erupted in heartbreak.

A photo taken moments before he was killed showed the dog wearing a New York Knicks shirt.

“Dude that’s a big dog,” said one officer upon seeing the unleashed animal.

“I ain’t getting bit by that bro,” said another.

The officers asked Jameson’s owner, Marie Marseille, to secure the dog repeatedly but after a moment the dog rushes out of the unit and at one of the officers standing in the outdoor hallway outside the apartment.

The officer being rushed by the dog drew his weapon and fired four shots, killing the animal.

Marseille collapsed in heartbreak upon seeing her dog killed.

“Oh my God! Oh my God,” Marseille cried. “I cannot believe this is happening. I cannot believe this is happening.”

Marseille said her dog wasn’t aggressive.

The LAPD video shows two angles of the shooting. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Viral cellphone video capturing the emotional aftermath of Jameson’s killing spurred fury, prompting Mayor Karen Bass to demand a full accounting of the matter.

She released a statement Friday in response to seeing the video.

“What I saw on the bodycam footage is disturbing and tragic. The Chief and I agreed that it was important to release the bodycam footage swiftly. While the investigation is ongoing, I am very concerned about why shots were fired and Jameson was killed,” she said.

“This shooting makes clear that while LAPD provides officers with written guidance on the use of force and pets, this is not enough.”

“I have directed the Police Commission President and the Chief to examine the Department’s Use of Force policy on Dog Encounters to determine best practices from around the country, and use this opportunity to update the LAPD’s overall tactics, policies, and training related to the use of lethal force to increase safety for everyone – officers, Angelenos and their pets,” the statement continued.

Neighbors mourned the passing of Jameson.

An online GoFundMe for the dead dog and Marseille’s family has already raised more than $200K — as public outrage over the incident continues to grow.

In a video statement released with the new bodycam footage, LAPD Captain Mike Bland said the department is only at the very early stages of its investigation of the shooting, which may take a year to complete.

“Our understanding of the incident may change as this additional evidence is collected, analyzed, and reviewed,” said Bland.

“We also do not draw any conclusions about whether the officers acted consistent with our policies in the law until all the facts are known,” he added.

i love animals but fuck do you expect when after being told to secure your dog, you let him get out anyway and he lunges at a cop. Sure ''hes not aggresive'' WTIH YOU fucking dumb nigger. Now a dog is dead because of her.
First Harambe, now, a St. Berdoodle. Even when niggers are not actively killing, they are still getting things killed.

Dicks out for the St. Berdoodle, guys.

It's funny how cops are deathly afraid of being bit by any dog but they also have their own dogs who will maul people and have never in a single bodycam I've ever watched actually listened to commands to stop.
It's almost like police dogs are trained to bite specific people while regular dogs owned by morons will just bite random people. I feel bad for the dog though bc all the owners had to do was one thing and they didnt do it. Put the fucking thing in the bathroom and shut the door. I always did that with my dogs. I was prepared to be mad at the cops until I heard them tell the owners to contain it multiple times only for some dumb bitch to keep repeating " hes not aggressive"
A family member has one of these dogs and they're giant babies that are afraid of their own shadow and think every human is a friend. Faggot pig
Anecdotal evidence doesn't mean jack shit. It's an animal and animals are unpredictable.
The stuff that happens in non-white countries. You wouldn't see this happening in Japan where people don't have guns, niggers or shitbulls. Third world.
You are right. The japanese are to busy working 18 hours a day and then retiring to their bug box to jack off to pixelated 8 year old lolis to behave as an individual dangerous or otherwise

Whatever your opinions about cops, you shouldn't want cops to be injured on the job and turn into 100% tax thief welfare queens.
Dogs get shot as standard procedure because too many niggers and spics used their nigger and spic dog breeds to attack cops and injure them. Save a fair degree of your anger for them (and spare some for White women too who think giant animals are a substitute for a husband).

Unfortunately they have to write procedures up with very generic language so 'advancing dog' applies to both an extremely friendly golden retriever and a charging 'labrador mix'. Still, there didn't seem to be any attempt to greet the dog or ascertain how friendly it was, just immediate 'whoa that's big WEAPON SYSTEMS ONLINE TARGET ACQUIRED'.

Whatever your opinions about cops, you shouldn't want cops to be injured on the job and turn into 100% tax thief welfare queens.
I feel there's definitely a lot of grey area between 'stand still and allow yourself an honourable death through mauling' and 'immediately magdump any animal coming within five city blocks'.

Because the furry officers are good boys and they deserve to munch on a tasty violent criminal every once and a while. Police dogs are very friendly if you're not attacking their partner or someone they're ordered to chase.

Dogs owned by apartment dwellers (not a euphemism for once) are almost always aggressive feral animals that annoy neighbors and attack passersby. They deserve to be put down.
keeping a dog that big in a tiny ass apartment is animal abuse.
