I'm stuck at work until morning and didn't get to play it yet, somebody tell me how the Silkdong tastes.

Eh, there's only 2 artists in the 3 person studio. The character designs themselves are simple, but their silhouettes are all immediately recognizable. When you look at the environments and and tiny details in the animation (like Hornet's head bobbing down slightly when she lands from a fall), you can see how it could end up being a shit ton of work to have elaborate moving characters on top of it.

It's also extremely effective branding. It's a minimalist design that your brain automatically associates with the game. Without even mentioning names, here are three examples that the vast majority of people who play games will immediately recognize based on design alone.

Some attacks hit for at least two masks in the first game too. Radiance, the Hollow Knight, and the dream version of the first boss come to mind.

True but this happens far more often and near the beginning of the game, before the first major boss (gives you a thropy in defeat), I managed to find 3 instances of double damage:

- Falling into lava
- Large skullheads
- An hidden enemy that was in the xbox trailer.
Abd when the boss hit me, it too dealt double damage.

If you liked Hollow Knight and plan on playing it as soon as you get it, then I would buy it. I've had fun so far. If you're waiting for a sale, it's already $20 and will probably only be discounted by a small amount in a few years. If you're waiting for DLC or bug fixes, I haven't seen anything yet that would be considered a bug (except for literally every character) and DLC might be free again if there is any. If you're not planning on playing it right away then you can wait. I know people get really big into avoiding spoilers of any kind including locations, music, characters, and move sets, so if that's you, I would get it.
 
It's very Metroid + Blasphemous so far. I'm enjoying it but it it's making me miss Little Knight quite a bit, both for attitude (completely in my own head but still) and control (mostly just the down attack pogoing). Hornet isn't much different from the first game, still cold and distant. Makes sense given her history but still doesn't make me like her much.
I'm imagining Hornet as a spider supremacist (despite not being a spider, so basically Uncle Ruckus) TERF autist and it's making it funner. So far nothing has made me stray from this interpretation of her character.
 
I suspect there's going to be some movement rework.
The downwards diagonal attack is really cool way to dodge jumping enemies from below if you're in the air and in their path.

Also, I reiterate that this is the first bells-type game.
