Laika (лайка), one of the first animals in space and to orbit the earth. She was a Moscow mongrel taken off the streets and trained by scientists for space travel. Unfortunately she died within orbit due to overheating and stress in a couple of hours. In 2008 they made a statue for her. Rest in Peace to Laika: a better friend to mankind than mankind was to her.
A monument to Sallie the Pitbull who protected a downed Union Soldier at the battle of Gettysburg. I unfortunately couldn't find an actual picture of her.

It's from one of the first lesbian night-clubs called Le Monocle which opened in Paris in the 1920s. However, in the 1940s it had to close because a certain German guy decided to occupy Paris.

Crime photos of the Viña del Mar psychopaths, who were the last 2 men to be sentenced to death in Chile (16 years before the capital punishment laws were modified*). There was a third guy, Luis Gubler, who got accused of being behind the murders, but was released due to "lack of proof" (despite that, Gubler got constantly attacked by people that he ran his ass away from the country for a long period of time.). IIRC there's a footage of the execution, but it's currently held by chilean authorities.
Shortly after the crimes were committed, one of the killers confessed to a Corporal and both he and his accomplice got their asses arrested in 1982, were declared guilty and sentenced to death the next year. After Pinochet pulled the "fuck you" card instead of offering his presidential pardon, they were executed by a firing squad in 1985.
*= Even though it's abolished from civil justice in 2001, death penalty still applies to war crimes and crimes against humanity during wartime in Chile.

The serial killer duo were former police officers, and from August 1980 until November 1981 they committed 10 murders, 4 rapes (one of them in presence of the 2nd rape victim's 2-year-old daughter) and even violent robbery. Most of the victims were parents and even 2 survivors (a couple) requested the killers to be spared because the guy's wife was pregnant, but the assholes didn't believe him and had the "brilliant" idea to punch her in the stomach. Due to the attack, she had hematuria the next day and the couple's baby was born with skull deficiency.

I'd argue Chicagos biggest mistake was only rebuilding the statue but then I remember those buildings would have been graffitied and vandalized, perhaps even squatted in.
